Last night was just another sleepless night. You wished that you could go back and just tell Hunter the truth. Why were you even afraid in the first place? He's your husband and you should feel free to tell him anything. He's pretty open to telling you what's going on with him, and you should've done the same, even if you were nervous about his reaction. At least if you told him right from the start, he would still be here and he wouldn't be as upset.
You haven't heard from Hunter since the argument last night. You tried calling him, but unfortunately he's not answering his phone. After a while, you just decided to stop trying to reach him by phone. It was either wait for him to come back home or go find him yourself, and since you can't deal with the guilt right now, you just want to figure out where he is and apologize and move on.
Before leaving the house, you called Lynette and asked if she had heard from Hunter. Supposedly he's been over there since this morning and he's still not in the best mood. You don't know if Hunter explained what happened to his parents, but Lynette invited you to come over and you accepted her invite. Maybe this can be your opportunity to apologize to Hunter.
You arrive at Leo and Lynette's house close to 1pm. After knocking on the door, Leo answers seconds later and greets you with a hug.
"How are you, Leo?" You ask, entering the house after he embraces you.
"I'm doing great. It's good to see you," he smiles.
"It's good to see you too." You smile back and look around, trying to find Hunter.
"They're in the kitchen," he says.
"Oh! Thank you," you smile at him again before you turn around and walk towards the kitchen.
As you get closer to the kitchen, you hear the sound of pans clattering and the sound of Lynette's voice. Based on the ingredients laying on the kitchen countertop, it looks like she's going to be making gumbo later on.
When Lynette sees you, she stops whatever she was doing and embraces you. Hunter, however, briefly glances at you, giving you a dirty look before he grabs a pot out of the lower cabinet he was kneeling by.
"Do you need any help?" You ask Lynette.
"If you want to! Hunter might need a little assistance," she chuckles.
"Okay." You smile kindly. "Hey Lynette, can I have a minute with Hunter? We won't be long..."
"Of course!" She pats your shoulder and exits the kitchen, leaving you to talk with Hunter.
"Hunter, can we talk?" You ask, looking at him as he stands up and sits the silver pot on the stove.
"Mallory...I'm not in the mood for this. Not here, not now..." he says.
"Okay...when will you be in the mood?" You ask, stepping closer to him.
"I don't know," he shrugs and slightly steps away, adding more distance between the two of you. The tone in his voice seems kinda harsh.
"Hunter, I don't want to argue. I just want to talk..." you say softly.
"You didn't want to talk several weeks ago when you were finished with that video..." he says.
"That was several weeks ago..." you say.
"Okay, you know it's true. I was there for you and you chose not to open up..." he says.
"How long are you going to hold that against me?" You ask. "Hunter, I already know that I messed up. You don't have to keep reminding me. Do I avoid you and remind you of the mistakes you've made??"
"So I leave for one night and that's considered avoiding you?" He says, his voice raising slightly.
"And you're not answering my phone calls!" You say.
"It was ONE night. You're acting as if I abandoned you completely," he says.
"Either way, you wouldn't like it if I did that to you! At least if I was upset with you, I would still answer your phone calls so you know I'm safe. Even if you're still mad at me, you should've let me know that you were okay! I may be your best friend but most importantly I'm your wife. I stress and worry about you all the time. You can't just ignore me because of a dumb argument," you say.
He looks as if he wants to say something, but he can't get anything out. Maybe your words are finally starting to get to him.
"Listen Hunter, I know I was wrong for not telling you earlier, but I need you to put yourselves in my shoes. I got stuck with a director who insisted on having her way, and I was under a lot of pressure. If I could go back and fix things then I would, but I'm asking you to forgive me and please come home. I miss you already..." you say, your eyes watering.
"Mal, I..." he sighs and closes his eyes briefly before opening them again and looking into your eyes. "I'm sorry...and I miss you too. I was just upset, and I shouldn't have said those hurtful things last night..."
You just nod and look down as you wipe away a tear that slides down your cheek.
You suddenly feel his arms around you and he pulls you close, burying his face into your hair.
"I never meant to hurt you last night..." he whispers.
"I never meant to hurt you either," you say, sighing and wrapping your arms around his waist.
"I didn't mean any of the things I said last night, and I shouldn't have left you like that. And...if I was in your situation I probably would've done the same thing...but no matter what, just know that you don't have to keep anything from me." He pulls away and places his hands on the sides of your face. "I love you, Mallory."
"I love you too, Hunter..." you say, looking into his glassy eyes. "And I'm sorry that I put you through all that trouble last night..."
"It doesn't matter," he whispers, smiling as he brushes some of your hair behind your ear, leaning in for a kiss. "You know I'd go to the moon and back for you."
