"So, what's going on?" Hunter says before he shoves a spoonful of his cookies and cream ice cream into his mouth.

Hunter picked you up from your house a few hours ago and took you to get ice cream from your favorite place, and now you're both just sitting in his car in an almost empty parking lot, talking about everything.

"I don't know Hunt...I'm just tired," you reply, sitting your cup of ice cream down. "Tired of what?" He asks, turning to look at you. "Of hearing them fight. They're always arguing about something. I'm tired of it," you say.

He nods but he doesn't say anything. You don't really expect him to say much, especially since he's not in the same boat that you're in.

"I guess that sometimes I just wish that I was younger...because when you're younger, you don't have anything to worry about and you don't know what's going on. You're just happy ALL THE TIME. But when you're a teenager, you know everything and its overwhelming and it messes you up sometimes," you say, your voice cracking. "I just want things to go back to the way they were Hunter. I want to be happy. It's just...it's kinda hard to be happy and focus on anything positive when you hear your parents arguing all the time."

"Are your parents going to break up?" He asks. "I think so," you reply, your eyes watering.

A few tears stream down your cheek and you turn away so that Hunter doesn't notice.

"Sarah...look at me. It's okay to cry," he says softly. You wipe your tears away with your jacket sleeve and turn to face Hunter. "I know that you're going through a hard time right now, and there's a lot of things going on. And...I know that life is not really going the way you want it to, but I promise you that everything is going to be okay. I know you've probably heard that a million times and you're probably tired of hearing that, but its the truth. Unfortunately, life is not always going to go the way we want it to, and unexpected things are going to happen. But that doesn't mean that we'll never be happy. Sometimes, we just have to accept what's going on and just work through it. It's not going to be easy all the time, but you know that I'm here for you and I'm always going to be your shoulder to cry on."

As an act of reassurance, he grabs your hand and firmly squeezes it.

You smile and a few more tears stream down your face as you take in his words and stare into his beautiful blue eyes. "Thank you Hunter."

"You're welcome," he says, smiling and wiping away your tears. "And please stop crying. You are so beautiful and I hate seeing you like this..."

His compliment makes you blush, and usually you would look away or try to hide it, but you don't. You look at his eyes, then his lips, then his eyes again. He slowly moves closer to you, and you close your eyes as you feel his nose touch yours and his lips getting closer.

It's about to happen, but then you're phone rings and he stops. "Maybe you should answer that..." he says, backing up.

You sigh and take your phone out of your purse and see that your mom is calling you. You answer the phone and she just asks you where did you go and says that she just wanted to check on you. She also says that she wants Hunter to bring you home since its starting to get late.

You hang up the phone and look at Hunter. "Can you take me home?"

"Oh...yeah. Of course," he replies, sounding slightly disappointed.
