It's the day of your one year wedding anniversary and you're home all by yourself. Your husband Hunter is on tour, and you haven't heard from him all morning. Usually, he sends you a morning text or calls and checks on you, but today you haven't gotten any calls or texts from him. Even when you called him, he didn't answer his phone. You're starting to get worried, but then you hear your phone ring. You pick it up, and when you see that it's Hunter calling, you answer the phone immediately. "Hello?" You say frantically. "Hey babe! How's it going?" He replies, sounding calm as ever. "Not good. Hunter, I called you several times and you didn't answer your phone. I was worried about you!" You say. "Hey, thank you for being concerned about me. But I'm okay! I'm just a little bit busy right now," he says. You stay quiet for a few seconds. "Hey are you still there?" He asks. "Yes I'm still here. Hunter, can I ask you something?" You say. "Of course you can," he replies. "Okay...did you forget that today is our---"
"One year wedding anniversary? No I didn't forget. I'm just really busy right now babe. I'm sorry," he says. He still sounds really calm, but he also sounds like he's hiding something. You want to ask him if he'll be coming home tonight, but you're too irritated to ask him any more questions or stay on the phone with him any longer. "I'll just talk to you later Hunter."
"Are you okay?" He asks. "Not really Hunter," you reply. You can hear people in the background calling his name and telling him that they need to get back on the bus and get going. "Hunt, go ahead and take care of business and I'll just talk to you later, okay?" You say, your voice cracking a little bit. "Okay...I love you," he says. "I love you too Hunter," you reply.
You hang up the phone and tears begin to fill your eyes. You're sad and angry at the same time. All you want to do is spend your wedding anniversary with him. Not at the house all by yourself. And it seems like the anniversary isn't even that important to him and that's what hurts the most.
You sit in the kitchen for a little while, pondering over your thoughts until you decide to get dressed and get out of the house for a little while.
