I felt the bed shift with the weight of someone else and I rolled over to check who it was. In my half awake state I squinted my eyes in the darkness, unable to see whom it was. The covers were pulled back and arms wrapped around me, pulling me towards a warm body. I wrapped my arms around him, pressing my cheek against his bare chest and breathing him in. Knowing that is was Jake immediately.
"What time is it?" I mumbled into his chest, my eyes closed as I slowly woke up.
"Its late," Jake sighed, before kissing me on the top of my head. "I'm sorry, we got carried away in the studio," Jake explained as his hands rubbed my arms that were wrapped around his waist.
"Is the song ready?" I asked, finding myself up for a conversation even in my tired state. The thing was that Jake and I hadn't really talked since before I'd moved out, like a deep conversation kind of talk. I was starting to miss that about us.
"Yeah," Jake replied, his hands moving to my hair where he brushed it away from my face in soothing patterns. "Do you want to go back to sleep?" he asked, a hopefulness in is voice like he wanted me to say no. I could tell he was wide awake and I wanted to spend time with him.
"Tell me something?" I asked, snuggling closer to him and draping one of my legs over him.
"Anything," he agreed, his voice sounding strange when he'd said the words. It sounded happy and sad at the same time. If I'd had it in me I would have looked up at him, but my eyes stayed closed and my head resting on his chest.
"Why do you have a draw full of condoms?" I asked, biting my lip as the words escaped my mouth. I wondered if he would give me a cryptic answer, or if he wouldn't answer at all.
"Our band's assistant stocks all of our houses up with them, management don't really want any pregnancies on their hands," Jake explained, answering my question effortlessly.
"So you haven't used them?" I pushed, making sure that there was nothing I needed to know. I was also taking full advantage of the fact that Jake wasn't putting up walls between the two of us. He was just being himself.
"Only with you," he replied, a smile in his voice. I opened my eyes as his finger raised my chin, finding he had put the bedside lamp on. His soft blue eyes peered back at me, looking like the sky on a clear summers day. "You are the only girl who has ever slept in this bed," he added, making my heart speed up at the conviction in his voice. I had the answer I needed, since being around me he hadn't had sex with anyone other than me. That's all I needed to know.
"Did you ever cheat on Hanley?" I asked as he dropped his finger so I could snuggle back into my spot on his chest. I felt him stiffen at my words, obviously feeling like I was trying to put him in a trap. I just couldn't see him abstaining from sex for a year for a girl he wasn't even dating, especially when he had girls throwing themselves at him constantly.
"It was too risky, with the whole contract thing," he replied, his body rigid because he was scared of my response. I looked up to him; surprised that he hadn't had sex in a year and also that he was being so open and honest with me.
"So I'm the first –"
"In over a year? Yes," he nodded his head, his eyes staring back at me and waiting for my response. I didn't know how to respond though; I was so far over the moon that I couldn't even think straight. Jake had put sex aside for a girl he didn't even like, he hadn't cheated on her or had sex with her and I'd been the first girl he'd had sex with in over a year. I hadn't expected him to be a virgin, but with his lifestyle I definitely didn't think he could have abstained for so long. "I tried that whole 'one night stand' thing when I was younger, I don't really care for it," he explained, voicing every girl's wet dream. I couldn't believe what he was saying, he was the complete opposite to every guy I knew.
