(Erik's POV)
I sighed and looked away. "Have a great time." I whispered as I walked to the door and opened it. Sarah looked at me curiously. "What do you mean, Erik?"
"You're going, are you not?" I asked. "I want you to have a great time with the Prince."
"No, I'm not going." She said as she closed the door and stood in front of it so I could get out.
"Why not?" I asked as I looked down at her.
"Because I don't know him too well and I'm not sure I want to. I've met him twice. Once at the palace and again at the market one morning. I am not sure I like his personality." She said as she set the letter down on a small table near the door.
"Sarah, he can give you so much more, than I can." I stated softly. "Go to the dinner."
She shook her head. "No. Remember what I told you in the carriage when we were leaving the palace? That I wanted a man instead of a boy?"
I nodded. "He is a man." I said and then took her hand. "You're going. End of discussion." I said as I released her hand and moved her away from the door. I opened it and walked out. That Prince could give her so much more than what I could.
She crossed her arms and stood in the door. "He's a boy, Erik. And, if I do go, it'll be to tell him that I do not wish to see him as anything more than a friend!" She spun on her heel and marched out of sight, leaving the door open behind her.
"And what am I?!" I screamed across her yard. "More monster than a man!"
(Sarah's POV)
I growled under my breath and marched back to the open doorway. "That's a lie straight from the pit of hell!" I shouted back as I placed my hands on my hips. He didn't bother to respond. He looked back at me one last time before walking back to Nadir's house. I watched him walk away and my anger dissolved to tears as I crumbled on the doorway and began crying.
After a few moments, I picked myself up walked back into my house, muttering under my breath, "Erik, you are the most frustrating man..." I picked up a piece of paper and began writing a response to Jabril.
I finished my reply and decided I would sent it in the morning. I sighed and glanced over at Nadir's house. Only one light was on and that was in Erik's bedroom. I stood up and started to walk over there. Perhaps now we had both cooled down, we could handle the situation better.
I walked into Nadir's house and down the hallway where I knew Erik's room was.
(Erik's POV)
After walking away from Sarah, I walked to my room and sat down at my desk, doing the only think I could do at the time. Compose. I composed a few songs, but nothing really came to me.
In the end, I sighed and stood from my desk. I needed to speak with Sarah. I needed to apologize. I walked out of my room and almost ran into Sarah. I looked down at her and then looked away ashamed. "Erik is sorry for everything." I whispered.
"I'm sorry too." She said as she looked up at me then down at the floor.
"I like you, Sarah." I whispered. "So very much." I said as I glanced up at her. "I need to work on controlling my temper. I just got so mad when I read that note."
"It's okay. I understand." She reached out gently to me. "I like you too. A whole lot. All lovers go through arguments. We both need to learn to control our tempers." She smiled slightly at me. I took her hand and kissed it. "So, you're not mad anymore?"
