Mason slung his arm around my neck as we walked into the crowded house. The music was blaring and the bass shook every surface. Hot bodies littered each square inch of the hallway and Mason had to take off his arm in order for us to get to the main part of the house.
"The kitchen's over here," Mason said loudly into my ear so I could hear him. He pointed to a keg sitting on an island countertop. I made a bee-line towards the alcohol.
A bottle of vodka was sat next to the oven. I smelled the contents before I picked up a blue solo cup and filled it halfway with the liquid. I filled the rest with coca cola.
Mason met me with his drink and we made our way over to the couches. I squeezed in next to a person I didn't know and Mason sat next to me on the arm rest. I took a long sip of my drink, feeling the burn as an aftertaste.
"Liam sucks for not coming," Mason commented before taking a swig out of his cup.
"I know," I made a face. "He's been so weird lately."
Mason smiled a little, "he's always weird, though."
I nodded, "yeah, but it's a different weird. He's been, like, avoiding me or something."
"So talk to him about it."
"I never get the chance!" I complained before taking another drink. I was in desperate need to get drunk.
"You're his first real girlfriend. I guess he's still getting used to the concept," Mason suggested.
I shook my head, "we've been together for five months. If he's not used to it now then he never will be."
"I have an idea," Mason said.
"And what's your idea?"
"Let's dance," He stood and took my hand, weaving me through the many drunk and grinding teenagers to find the right place to dance. He stopped me as we filled a gap between two couples and I took a long drink before placing my arms lazily on Mason's shoulders as we danced, his hands resting on my hips.
As I was incredibly lightweight and I hadn't eaten in over two hours, I was beginning to feel tipsy after about three songs. All of my actions took a lot of effort and my head felt incredibly heavy. By about ten songs, I was pleasantly drunk.
Mason was still dancing with me, although he could barely hold himself up, being even more lightweight than me.
"Wanna dance?" A voice asked from behind me. It was someone from the lacrosse team at Devonfort Prep. I didn't remember what number he was or anything else about him but I knew that he was good friends with Brett. I figured one dance wouldn't hurt.
"Sure," I looked back at Mason and he nodded, allowing me to go. The guy took my hand and led me somewhere else on the dance floor.
His hands started running down my body and I began to move my hips to the music. "You go to Beacon Hills High, right?"
I nodded, "You go to Dev-Devn-," I couldn't manage to pronounce the name of his school.
"Devonfort Prep? Yeah," he smiled a little. "You're dating that spaz who used to go to my school, aren't you?"
I furrowed my eyebrows, "no," I shook my head furiously, "I'm dating Liam Dunbar."
"Yeah. The spaz," he laughed.
"No! He's not!"
"Okay, alright," he rolled his eyes, his hands grasping my ass and pulling me into him.
"Don't do that," I snapped, pushing him off me.
"Why not?" He pulled me into him again and ground down on me. He leaned down to kiss me and I turned my head. He ended up kissing my cheek. I tried to push him off of me but I was weak and he managed to plant a kiss on me by holding his hand in a tight grip on the back of my neck. He continued to pry his tongue into my mouth, and I couldn't do anything about it. I could barely walk let alone fight off a 6 foot muscular man.
I was pulled off of him by someone and I stumbled backwards. Liam punched the guy square in the face, causing multiple people to stop dancing and avert their attention to my boyfriend and that guy. My mouth felt disgusting and my head pounded and at this point, I just wanted to get out of here. It took me a second before I registered what was going on, that Liam was still punching this kid. I stumbled over to him and attempted to pull Liam back. He turned and I realized that his eyes were glowing.
"Liam," I started.
"I know. We have to go," he drew in a deep breath and rushed me out of the house.
He sat me down in the passenger's seat and walked around to the driver's seat. I knew that Liam only had his beginner's, so he technically wasn't supposed to be driving, but I didn't care enough to lecture him. "I'm sorry, he just attacked my face and I told him to stop," I said, pretty sure that I was slurring my words.
His hand tightened on the steering wheel as he pulled out of the driveway, "he was trying to sike me out for tomorrow's game."
"Oh."
"I don't like you going to parties," he sighed, glancing over at me.
"I can usually take care of myself," I insisted. "I would never purposely do anything stupid!"
He scoffed, rolling his eyes, "I'm not worried about you doing something stupid, just other people. With you."
"I'm sorry," I repeated.
"Yeah, I know," he glanced over at me with a small smile.
"Why did you come?" I asked after a minute of silence.
"You didn't answer your phone," he admitted, an embarrassed smiling gracing his face.
I laughed loudly, probably louder than I should've.
"I was worried!" he defended himself but I just continued to laugh. "Good thing I came, anyway. Y/N, who knows what would have happened."
"Ugh! I'm sorryyyyyy," I said once again. "And thank you for being superman," I smiled and poked his cheek.
He smiled a little and pushed my hand away from him. "Anytime," he joked as he pulled into his driveway. I opened the door and stepped out uncertainly, stumbling over my feet. Liam walked around the front of the car.
"Piggy back?" I asked, lazily draping my arms around him.
He rolled his eyes, smiling, and turned around, crouching down low enough for me to climb on his back. "Don't say a word," he told me.
He walked in through the garage and went right downstairs to his room, setting me on his bed. "Can we make out now?" I asked, fumbling with the bottom of my shirt to pull it over my head.
"No," he laughed a little and rummaged through his drawer, coming up with one of his t-shirts. He walked over to the bed and helped me sit up, sliding my own shirt off and putting his shirt on me. He took the shoes off my feet and shimmied my shorts down my legs, putting a pair of sweatpants on me instead. I obliged with all of this because I didn't have the energy to do it myself. "Go to sleep, okay?" He gestured for me to move to one side of the bed and he helped me get under the covers. He slipped into the bed on the other side and turned off his bedside lamp.
"It's dark," I complained, rolling over and wrapping my arms around him. He drew circles on my back with his fingers for a while, but I had something else in mind. I changed my weight so I was on top of him and I kissed him. He kissed me back, his hands travelling down to my ass and grabbing. I moaned a little as I ground down on him. He gently pushed me off of him.
"You're drunk," he reminded me.
"I know," I huffed, "but it's not like we haven't done that before. It's not taking advantage of me," I assured him, leaving over to kiss him again.
"It still feels... wrong," he pushed me away from him again and I sighed as I laid on my back.
"Do you not want to be with me anymore?" I asked, feeling tears brim my waterline. I couldn't imagine losing him.
"Of course I wanna be with you," he said automatically.
"Then why are you avoiding me?" I ran my hand lazily down the middle of his face and he winced.
"I'm not," he insisted. "And it's really hard to have a serious conversation with you right now."
"I'm like, sober now," I lied. "And you are ignoring me."
He closed his eyes and sighed, moving towards me and cupping my face, hesitating before kissing me. I smiled against his lips and kissed him back, pushing my lips harder against his. He moved his weight so he was on top of me and he held himself up with his forearms. My tongue pushed into his mouth and mingled with his. My hands found their way to his ass and I squeezed, giggling at my actions.
Liam pulled away and laughed, "what are you doing?"
"I dunno," I laughed harder before kissing him again.
We made out for a while before he rolled off me, "go to sleep."
"Liam," I said, knowing what I wanted to say. Even if I was still drunk, I was very good and not allowing myself to say things that I would regret. Tonight, though, I knew that the only way that I could swallow my pride and tell him this was when I lacked good judgement.
"Yeah?"
"I'm gonna tell you this when I'm drunk because I won't be able to tomorrow," I took a deep breath before letting it fall out of my lips, "I love you."
He smiled, "I love you too."
"But you've been avoiding me," I reminded him.
"I-I guess I was scared because I thought you didn't feel the same way I did," he admitted.
"Stupid," I placed my hand against his cheek and shoved him away from me.
He laughed and shook his head at my actions. "Go to sleep, okay?"
I nodded and wrapped my arms around him, falling asleep on his chest.
