"Come on, Y/N, you have to learn how to defend yourself," Allison said as we walked down the halls of Beacon Hills High. I rolled my eyes, slightly annoyed with this conversation.
"It isn't like I'm usually out there and involved in the fighting," I argued. "I'll be fine. Besides, I can punch."
"One punch from a teenage girl isn't really going to do much damage to a werewolf with superhuman strength and healing abilities," Allison stated, giving me a look.
"Then I'll hit them with the good ole one, two!" I said playfully, acting out the motions. Allison laughed and shook her head. "Why don't you bug Stiles about this? He's just a normal human, too!"
"Stiles at least has a bat."
"Then I'll go to Dick's after school and buy me a bat!" I told her.
"Just come to a training session," she urged. I sighed heavily and turned to face her as we neared the door to chem class.
"Derek scares me, and Peter creeps me out. Plus, everyone is better than me, I'm not athletic, and I'll look stupid," I stated. Allison looked at me sympathetically, placing a hand on my arm. I thought that I was in the clear, but then her face began to light up.
"I'll train you! I can teach you how to shoot one of my bows!" she suggested excitedly.
"If I say yes, will you leave me alone about it?" I asked, feeling defeated. Allison nodded, a big smile on her face. I couldn't help but return it no matter how much I didn't want to.
"Come with me after school. We'll go to my house and pick up some stuff, and then we can go into the woods and practice." The bell rang and we walked into the classroom, taking our seats. I took a deep breath, thinking about later.
"What could go wrong?" I thought to myself.
************
A lot. A lot could go wrong.
"See? I knew this was a bad idea!" I hissed between my teeth, pain shooting through my body as Allison rushed me to the hospital.
Everything had been going fine. Allison and I picked up her bow and some targets and headed out into the woods. She set up the targets for me, sticking the paper to one of the trees. Then she showed me how the bow worked, how to hold it, how to stand, how to aim, and then she did a little demonstration so I felt more comfortable. After taking a few shots and Allison tweaking my form, I had somehow actually managed to hit the target. We cheered in excitement, Allison hugging me happily. With a huge smile and a new burst of confidence, I took aim again and managed to hit the target a little closer to the center. In my celebration, which involved some jumping, I came down on my ankle wrong, a searing pain running up my leg, and feel to the ground where I proceeded to smack my head on a rock.
"Oh my god! Y/N! Are you alright!" Allison shouted, kneeling next to me to inspect the damage. I sat up with a groan and put my hand to my head, pulling it away to find it covered in blood.
"Shit," I had mumbled. Allison pulled me to my feet, putting my arm over her shoulder to help me to her car. I had to limp, which only made us take even longer.
When we pulled up to the hospital, Allison helped me inside. Thankfully Melissa was there and able to help me pretty fast. She got me a wheelchair, taking me away to patch me up and leaving behind an anxious Allison. After cleaning up the wound on my head and giving me an advil and ice pack, my ankle was inspected and wrapped up.
"You just seem to have hyper extended it is all. Keep ice on it and keep it wrapped. Here are some crutches to use for awhile so you can keep weight off of it. Should help it heal a little faster," Melissa said with a smile. I thanked her and made my way back out to the waiting room. Allison jumped up when she saw me and wrapped her arms around my neck in a tight hug.
"Y/N, I'm so sorry! Are you alright? What did Melissa say?" she asked rapid-fire. I giggled at her worry.
"I'm fine, Allison, calm down," I assured her. "I don't have a concussion, so that's good. And my ankle is just hyper extended. They think I'm gonna make it." Allison smiled at me, but I could tell there was still worry in her expression. I rolled my eyes playfully and started to head for the door. "Well come on. The patient wants some ice cream!" She hurried after me, linking her arm as best she could with my own as we walked out of the hospital. "See, now that would have been way more embarrassing if I had done that in front of the whole pack." Allison laughed, a sound I loved to hear.
