Alex POV

The next morning I had woken up to heavy footsteps climbing up the stairs. The pace was creepilly slow and loud against the wooden steps.

I tiptoed from my bed towards the door, I bend down to look through the keyhole but flew away when I saw a body standing in front of my door. Moments later the doorknob twisted and the door creaked open revealing a man. The sight of him gave me chills and goosebumps.

He had ghostly pale skin with  frown lines settled on his face. He looked deathly sick. His eyes were rimmed with black circles and bags under them. Attacked to that was his sunken cheeks. He wore old PJ pants which were ripped at the bottom and a very loose long sleeved shirt which highlighted his hands that were sticking out from the shirt. He was skin on bones.

He stared ahead not minding me and pushed past me towards my bed. His feet dragging slowly under him. I didn't dare to speak he looked like a dead walking corpse. He laid on the bed with his back pressed against the matress. His face remained straight and hallow without blinking. He stared at the blue ceiling and in that moment he looked like a broken man who lost everything.

I stumbled backwards taking cautioned steps towards the door. Fearing that he might suddenly snap and kill me, I ran out of the room and set in search for somebody. I didn't know that man and I wondered how he ended up inside this pack without being noticed by anyone. Once I reached the front door I stopped, I remembered yesterday's events. Was I hallucinating again ? I stepped away form the front door striding back up the stairs. I peaked my head inside the room and saw the man still laying the way I left him. I pinched myself repeatedly until I left a red spot on my skin. I waited and stared at him waiting for the illusion to go away but nothing changed he still laid in my bed emotionless. I wondered if this was like Glamour was I supposed to see through it?

I didn't know.

A voice brought me back to reality and I jumped. I smiled sheepishly at Damon whose gaze now travelled in search of what I was peering at.

I waited for a reaction to seeing a man in my bed but I got none. He looked around the room searching for the thing that kept me locked in place.

I sighed heavily once I saw my empty bed. I couldn't admit to him that I was going crazy so I said the first thing that came up in my mind.

"There was a bug"

He raised his eyebrow at me, "You're scared of a bug and you lived for years in the wild?"

I shrugged avoiding his intense eyes and stepped inside the room looking around for the man. Damon followed me and chuckled at me.

"A small fly won't eat a beast" He grinned at me amusement lighting his eyes.

"It was bigger then you would've thought" I grumbled remembering the tall man's height which was the same as Damon's.

"Will you live if I leave you with the little bug to grab a cup of water?" He didn't wait for me to answer and left the room.

I waited for the man to suddenly appear again, but of course that didn't happen. I plopped down on the bed and I stared the same way the man did at the ceiling. I wondered what was so interesting about it.

I shifted my hands and laid them behind my head, I felt something rubbery on the back of my palm. I sat up and looked for the thing not knowing what to expect. I thought it was a ball attached to a very thin cord. It wasn't a ball, it was an eye.

I couldn't help the scream from erupting from my mouth, I crawled away until I landed on my feet in the corner of the room. Blood was staining my white sheets with every drop of blood. I blinked at the drops of blood leaking from the ceiling. I was afraid to see where the crimson liquid was coming from but deep down in my gut I knew. I looked at the ceiling and I saw the most gruesome scene in front of me. The man was dangling from my lamp, both his eyes sockets were empty and dripping with the red liquid. I did not want to see where the second eyeball had landed. The huge hook was passing through the middle half of his body. And his legs were scratched to the bones.

I coward in the corner waiting for Damon to answer my cries. I couldn't raise my head to look at the scene. I hid my head between my knees and rocked myself. When the panic passed I realized that I had seen worse. But I couldn't bring myself to lift my head up and search for help. Suddenly a very cold and unfamiliar touch laid on my skin, I flinched and kicked imagining the man gripping me. Still refusing to open my eyes, I landed kicks and punches blindly.

"Alex stop it It's me" the cold touch turned into a warm welcoming one. I relaxed and opened my eyes to meet Damon's green orbs.

"What's wrong?"

I glanced behind him, the bed was clean, the lamp had no body hanging from it and there was no sign of anything unusual.

"I...I" I stammered searching every corner of the room, waiting for any limbs to appear out of nowhere.

But there was nothing.

I picked myself up, and felt a wave of tears coming at me.

"Nothing" I chuckled drily, I saw his eyebrows knit in disbelief.

"You were screaming bloody murderer, I thought I would have to kill someone"

You wouldn't have to kill a dead body.

"Sorry" I muttered eyeing the floor.

"It's fine", he started, "but don't scare me like this again"

I looked once more for any body parts laying around, I refused to believe that I was going crazy. I refuse to a admit that. I guess I'll just have to wait until somebody else notices and forces some help on me.

I locked the door behind me, and followed Damon down the stairs.

Damon and I haven't talked much these few days, I haven't seen him really. I didn't leave the house. I thought it was the safest place around here. Apparently I was wrong.

I surely was not going to come near that room ever again.
I still wondered what happened to that man and how he ended up here.

"I have a question" at the sound of my voice, Damon focused his attention on me.

"Ask away" he said.

"Was anyone staying in that room before me? Possibly a man?"

"It was a long time ago, yes" he tilted his head to the side, "Why do you ask?" He eyed me probably hearing my heart drumming loudly against my ribcage.

"I just found old clothes in the closet" I lied smoothly, if it weren't for my heartbeat picking up it would have been a convincing lie.

"What happened to him?" I wanted him to talk so that he could get distracted.

"He went rogue" He didn't look at me when he spoke.

I narrowed my eyes, if he wanted to lie he could try to make it believable.

I nodded anyway not being able to judge him for lying since numerous lies left my mouth from the day I came here until now.
