Chapter 8- Seer! *edited*

Later on. I was sat at the table with books all around me and a blank notebook in front of me. I racked my head trying to concentrate as everyone around me was immersed in some other activity. I didn't even know what to start researching.

Suddenly the chair in front of me was pulled out sharply and the person sat down. Vanelope sat in front of me in what I guessed to be Esteban's red and blue checkered shirt. Her short blonde hair was dripping down her shoulder and her grey eyes seemed almost crazed with knowledge? No! Fear!

"Do you need help doing your homework?" She asked as her left hand picked at her right hands skin.

I eyed her uncertainly as her eyes bounced from one place to the next.

"No, thank you." I said slowly.

Vanelope suddenly leaned forward and grasped onto my right hand.

My instincts took over as the soul mark burned and I did what first came to mind.

I twisted my wrist, grabbing onto her arm and pulling her body onto the table face down as I jumped up and dug my knee into her back. Almost as quickly had I pulled Vanelope onto the table, Esteban emitted a warning growl and lunged for me.

He slammed into my side and we crashed into the wall. The wind was knocked out of me but that didn't stop me from throwing a sharp kick to his chest. He landed three feet away in a crouch and I immediately dropped into one myself, pulling out a small knife from my jeans pocket.

Eric moved swiftly into the room and stood next to me in a calm matter. "Stop!" He ordered.

Esteban turned his head towards Eric and growled. I didn't move as Vanelope jumped off the table and made a move to come my way again.

Leo caught her around the waist as Esteban stepped out of his crouch. I still didn't move. "You know what I am don't you?" She pleaded desperately. "I saw it in your eyes earlier. You know why I see things? You know I'm not crazy. I don't see hallucinations. Tell me. Please, Amelia." She begged.

Mr. And Mrs. Ortiz tried to calm their daughter as Gabriel joined the scene.

"What's going on?" Gabriel asked as Eric nudged me out of my crouching position.

I slowly allowed my body to untense and return to its upright position.

"Amelia attacked Vanelope!" Esteban growled.

I arched an eyebrow and quietly stepped around them not bothering to correct them.

I picked up my discarded books, straightening out the pages and slipped everything back inside my messenger bag.

"Gabe, she knows. Ask her. Gabe, she knows what I am. I'm not crazy big brother. She knows it. I know she knows. Ask her please. Ask her." Vanelope screamed as she was dragged down into a sofa.

Mrs. Ortiz pulled a needle from her purse and gently injected it into Vanelope's bicep.

I cringed as she pulled the needle back out and closed my bag. I tossed it over my shoulder and was making my way back into my room when a big warm hand gripped my right hand.

Unlike my reaction to Vanelope's touch-or anyone's to be exact- this time I felt like as if the world stopped. Tingles traveled throughout my veins and a red hue began to cover my skin almost as if I was glowing. I snapped my head around and met Gabriel's grey and gold specked eyes.

"Did you attack my baby sister?" He asked quietly.

I shook my head as my voice failed me.

"Do you know why she gets hallucinations?" He asked slowly.

I have always heard how Shadow Hunter's from my own family had expressed that when there soul mates asked them for something they couldn't say no but I had just believed they were all too willing to please and easily sway able. But as Gabriel stood before me, his intimidating body towering over me I couldn't find a single mind cell capable of making me move away from his grasp, let alone not answer his question one hundred percent truthful.

"She is a seer. She can see the past, the present and the future." I mumbled dropping my gaze to our conjoined hands.

The black lines now decorating both our hands seemed to pulse and move on their own as if alive yet it seemed he hadn't noticed yet.

How? I have no clue. He dropped my hand quickly as if just realizing he held my hand and backed up several spaces.

The aching rejection I suddenly felt in my chest was one I had felt before but suddenly this was more intense more painful. It was as if he was disgusted by us touching or something. I swallowed thickly and continued into my room.

There was a sharp knock on the door but I ignored it as I continued to scribble furious into my notebook.

'Many Shadow Hunters have tried unsuccessfully to exorcise a Shadow from a human's body. Most of the times the demon doesn't keep the human body. They simply take their form for a few days until the person is declared dead or missing.'

As the door to my bathroom opened slowly I stopped writing and looked up. My heart pounding loudly. I lifted my gaze and breathed out as I found Mr. Ortiz standing there.

'There had to be a conjoined door and I most have missed it.' I thought absently.

"You scared me." I confessed without thinking.

He trailed his hand down the door before turning my way fully.

"I have a question Amelia." He asked.

I straightened my spine and nodded for him to go on.

"When where you going to tell Gabriel you and him where soul mates?" He asked.

My heart dropped. "What?"

"Oh you know, just, Gabriel has a girlfriend and they're pretty serious. I think he may even propose to her." Mr. Ortiz laughed quietly as he moved his stubby legs my way until he stood above me.

"Why are you telling me this?" I asked dreadfully.

He smiled and suddenly I couldn't breath.

'Mr. Ortiz' had pure black teeth and suddenly his eyes turned pure black.

"Shit." I cursed before rushing to my feet.

The demon impersonating Mr. Ortiz shed his skin until a vampire like creature stood before me.

I began to hyper ventilate as I came to the realization that I had never killed a demon. Never even seen one aside from paintings.

The demon laughed morbidly before lunging for me. I screeched rather girly before jumping onto the bed. We began a game of cat and mouth keeping the bed between us at all times. Meanwhile I scratched my head trying to remember how to kill a demon and why in heaven's sake did no one come and see what the entire racket was.

'Fire!' I thought as the demon suddenly grew tired of our game and jumped over the bed, slamming us both against the wall.

I slipped out from under the demon and lunged for a perfume bottle that had been knocked to the ground during our scuffle. I grabbed a broken lamp cord as I smashed the perfume to the ground. When the demon stepped on the perfume water I dropped the cord onto it.

The small blast that occurred as the demon caught flame sent me slamming into the bed post. The room door finally opened and Eric stuck his head into the room.

"Are you ok?" He asked looking around the mess that had become of my room.

"No I just fought my very first demon all on my own and nobody noticed I almost died here." I growled pissed.

Eric's eyes widened comically as I slumped down onto my side.

I cradled my arm against me as pain began to radiate through me.

"Umm maybe we should call the rest of the Hunters." Eric mumbled.

Why is it that before things turn out for the best most there be so much pain and hurt?
