I quickly caught Kaiti as she passed out. I can't really blame her though, my head spinning. A quick flash caught my attention. Flames twirled around a guys finger, not a scratch of fear in the guy's face. Isaac decided to freak out and I thought I saw the air shimmer around him, like it does on streets in the summer. We were taken by an elderly lady to a hospital-like place. Only a lot more homely. I pulled my phone out to text my mom about how I was freaked out by all of......This. I felt so scared and small. I started playing a game on my phone to calm myself down. I couldn't call home, I was a freak, an outcast. My phone flickered and then died. I never felt more alone as my new "friends" left me. A few seconds later, A girl came blumbering in as if she owned the place. I quickly hid as she flowed into the room, her dress dragging behind her.
I walked up next to her, but she didn't notice. She started to cry. I asked her if she was okay and she jumped. She got angry as her face contorted with vicious rage. A few seconds later a single flower floated out of the nearby vase. It was soon followed by many others and other things that could be classified on the lighter side. Slowly, but growing in speed, thing started floating from lightest to heaviest. It took about a minute before I began floating, an experience like no other. I was weightless, flying higher and higher, happy as could be. A violent shift in gravity suddenly made everything fall. I hit my head as, for the second time in 48 hours, I passed out.
I awoke to find the girl hovering over me, fretting about. She had this thing in her hand, that she was talking in. It looked kinda like a moon rock. A girl talking into a leaf walked into the doorway. She immediatly saw my open eyes. "I thought you said he was KNOCKED OUT!" said the girl with the leaf. The other girl screeched as though I was a corpse reanimated. The other girl bent down and asked if I was alright. I started laughing hysterically, a laugh of pure monachopsis. The girl looked at me strangely and I realized what I was doing.I looked up at her and asked "How did you do that?", wondering if maybe I could have that much control. If I could have that much ability, what could I do? What would my limits be? As these questions rolled through my head, I looked up at her. When I first saw her she looked young and radiant, but now her eyes looked tired, her skin was grey, and she looked more of a banshee. I realized that, like everything, using your power was draining and tiring. I wasn't sure who was hurt worse, her or me.
I quickly grabbed at her arm as she sat down and felt it again. I let it rage through, not knowing how to stop it. I felt it leave my body into hers, giving her lost energy and giving her strength back. Without a moments notice, she grew too full of energy while I lost too much. I tried pulling away, but we were anchored together. We pulled apart at the second I thought I was going to die. As our hands separated, my power was released, but with consequences. A bright spark flew from our disconnected palms and caught the beautiful wool carpet on fire. It spread like, naturally, wildfire. In a few moments the whole room was engulfed in flame. I layed down on the floor, not to avoid smoke like the others, but my body was too tired after using as much power as I did.
A few hours later I woke up in what was a stereotypical infirmary. A nurse walked in, only recognizable from the name tag. She wore a long, chenille dress, most indefinitely not used for medical staff. A certain curiousity made me follow her. She walked away to a nearby door and opened it up. I watched her walk through than close the door. I quickly followed and found...nothing, absolutely nothing. Where could She have gone? I croaked, since my body was not completely ready for getting up and moving yet, as loudly as I could for her.
After I came up with nothing, I followed the labyrinth of hallways until I found the dormitories. I found a present on my assigned bed that simply said "sorry". I rolled my eyes and shoved it off for later. The clock struck 6 and I realized I was hungry. I asked a guy with brown eyes and curly brown hair. "Go left down the purple hallway and right until you get to a green one, then look for the cafeteria." He said without a second thought.
As I made my way down to the cafeteria, I saw some rooms were open. I quickly peeked in some of them and was surprised. When I first came here I thought everything would be different, but it was so similiar that if a normal person walked in they could only tell the difference by the people.
Finally, I walked into a vast room. A buffet nearby made me wonder how much it cost, since I had little money. A cheery plump lady came to escort me to my station. She explained that they grouped the people in four major elements, and an extra group for the people they don't know what their power was. Instead of telling them my power, I walked to the extra group. I saw Kaiti and Isaac sitting by themselves so I sat beside them. In the few moments before they noticed me I heard "I hope he is ok, he did seem a little frazzled." and then they noticed me.
