I was walking down to see what was taking them so long with bringing when a full length wave began coming uphill. Trees toppled under its mass, the ones I left pulling the front. I marveled at the sight, as not everyday do you see such a spectacle. I realized too late it was coming straight for me, but I tried to escape anyway. A wall of water rushed over me, crashing down. I tried to scream, but my mouth was filled with water. I pulled me up course, Kaiti obviously not realizing she had caught someone in her tsunami. I grabbed onto a tree, trying to maintain at least some balance. I was pulled away; the twisting, whirling, changing current whirled me towards the bottom. I could not breathe, and my body was screaming for oxygen. I tried to swim, but my movements did nothing but hurt. I sunk lower, in the calmest area of the wave. Just as I was being pulled back up I felt my cranium collide with something large and heavy, then finally passing out.
"Is he okay? Like, you know not dead? Should we bring him to the hospital? Maybe we could ask him if he saw where that random wave came from!" I heard a high-pitched voice say.
"Maybe we should leave him be? No evidence we were here, so the police would never know." Another, deeper voice, said.
"Ridiculous! You really think that you could live with that guilt? If so then maybe we should not be dating."
"Calm down! It was just and idea. No need to get all huffy-puffy about it."
"Calm down?!? You suggest leaving someone here to die; and tell me to calm down! Unlike you, I have a hea..." when the she voice was caught off it sounded kind of like a giggle.
"See I have a heart, just want to make sure we know all our options. Should we bring him back to our house?"
"Let's just hope that he doesn't need a hospital"
I felt my limbs being grabbed from around me when I could move my eyelid. I flicked them open, finally getting a glance of the voices. The deeper voice seemed to be a guy about six feet tall, and the girl five. The girl looked over her shoulder and noticed my open eyes.
"Arghh! His eyes are open!" She screeched, instantly dropping her hold. My scream echoed through the woods. My leg must have been broken, the pain searing through every nerve and tendon to my brain. She grabbed my legs again, but started talking to me.
"So, do you know what started the flood?" She inquired, making me nervous.
"No" I said, just a little to forcefully.
"Are you sure" he said with a questioning glance. I realized I could pretend that I had fainted again. I put it into use, but she started to shake me again. The guy was trying to stop her, but apparently she wanted the information. My eyes opened to the sudden rush of pain.
"Not as dumb as you think, now am I boy?" she yelled, emotions blossoming on her face.
"What is wrong with you? Why are you so violent?" I cried, pain searing through my body.
"Kate, stop it" the guy said, gently putting my arms on the ground. She looked at him furiously, tears streaming down her face.
"You know what happened, why would you trust this guy? He didn't even talk before and you take his side!"
"I know that this is not the way to do it, and you wanted to help him first"
"That was before he lied to me!"
"If he was going to tell us something, it would be after he trusted us."
"What is going on" I yelled over their bickering.
"You don't know, do you?" the guy said.
"Not really, no"
"We were having a family picnic, and, well... the flood killed our parents"
"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry"
"Do you know what happened? We would at least like to know"
"It's a long story, and I can't go to the hospital."
"Why?"
"Part of the story"
"Okay" and they started to carry me to wherever they found and I just closed my eyes and tried to reduce the pain. I was carried into a car and fell asleep.
I woke up in a bright blue room, with light blue outline. The floor was a sandy yellow carpet. Definitely beach-themed. I tried to stand up, but my leg screamed in pain as I moved over the bed. The springs let of noises and the girl, Kate, walked in.
"You shouldn't be moving yet"
"Why would you attack me again?"
"I'm sorry but it was stressful time, so I was really worried"
She then lifted the blankets and started changing my dressings, seemingly to relieve any anxiety I had. She walked out and I stayed in there, looking at the room. I was looking at a picture of two dogs when the man came in.
"So, who are you?" He inquired.
"My name is Cai"
"Are you going to tell me what you know about the flood?"
"Only if you promise not to call the cops or government"
"Now why would want that? Whatever, I promise", In which I started to tell him about the whole thing. He started to walk out of the room, staring at me the whole time. I yelled at him to keep his promise, but I could not do anything about it at this time. I heard yelling in the other room and I realized I still did not know the guy's name. Could be important to know. I reached out with my power. I shut off all their phones and power other than lighting. I heard a scream, and then silence. Kate came in, the guys following after.
"So you can do...well...that?" She whispered, her voice barely audible.
"I'm still a beginner, but yea that was me", and then she ran out and I heard the front door slam. I sat there, hoping she didn't do anything betraying. I hoped that Kaiti, Izak, and Merlin were okay.
