"So if you have weaknesses, what's mine?"
"You'll just have to find it, hopefully not when it's important." I glared at Izak, Merlin moving to the fire.
"Izak! The fire's going out!" He glared back before going to the fire. He put his hands out in front of him, letting the fire get bigger. A flash erupted as the wall of flames came closer, a wall of fire and smoke. Spots of purple and blue shot out. Wait, purple? I looked at it, letting it wash over me. I felt the pain, but in some part of my brain I recognized it was fake. I threw my hands out in front of me, all the water from the cave blasting out. I heard a scream as the fire disappeared. Merlin was in the corner, obviously a place to survive the blast. Izak was still standing, fooled by the illusion, but not in fear because of his inability to burn. I felt a pressure weigh on my head, almost a headache. Kalyn threw another wave of illusion at us, a hoard of angry wolves. I stepped back, one standing in front of me. I fell to the ground as one jumped on me, standing over me. All of its hairs were upwards, raised as high as they could be. It's fake. I remind myself, thinking of the hair. The hair is not supposed to be up, but out. The wolf bent down and began tearing into me, but I put the pain aside. I used the adrenaline in my bloodstream to stand up, throwing it off. Kalyn was visible this time, tiring from the constant use of her power. Merlin and Cai were unable to help me, but in distracting them with her power she was leaving herself vulnerable. A glazed look in her eye, I blasted her with power. She fell back, right off a cliff. I expected to hear a scream, or something but a hawk's cry. Madison swooped up, Kalyn in her talons. She screeched as she flew overhead.
"Was that.."
"Yeah it was. How are you? I think I figured out how to get pass her illusions." Merlin got up when he heard me say that, and they both came over to me I told them as we got ready for the night, letting the fire go out so if Madison or Kalyn come back they'll have trouble locating the cave. I laid on a bush we had grabbed from outside, Izak and Merlin having their own. We talked into the night, too nervous to go to sleep. Finally we passed out, one by one.
I woke with twigs in my hair, and Izak standing over me. Cold water dripped everywhere.
"You have no idea what you've done!" I leaped after him, obviously able to use better means.
"What? Can't hit me with the water? Or too weak?" He would have gone on teasing me, but a patch of ice appeared in front of him. Wonder how that got to him...
"Now you're getting it"
"I thought I did when you dumped water on my head." Even before I finished that remark, the room heated up. The ice melted and all the water dried up.
"No fair! I don't have any supplies!"
"That's the point!" His face had a smirk on it.
"I'm going to slap that smile right off your face"
"Then come do it" I began to storm across the cave, hearing water squishing outside the entrance. I took form and...kissed him.
"Whatever happened to slapping me?" He mumbled, kissing me back.
"I thought this was better"
"Shaking in my feet"
"Oh, shut it"
"Ewww! Can you get your own cave if you're going to do that?" We pulled back to Merlin staring at us, water dripping from him. I smiled at Izak as I started gathering my stuff.
"We need to get moving, they know where we are and something tells me they are never going to stop."
We had all of our stuff together, and began to troop out.
"What are we going to do know?"
"Get supplies, and some elementals hopefully"
"What if we go to Lily's?"
"Do you know where they are?"
"That direction" I turned and followed Izak's finger.
"You sure?"
"Positive"
"Then lets go" We took off, Izak and me leading while Merlin hung behind us. We spent hours moving in silence, other than an occasional giggle when Merlin would lose his balance. We eventually stumbled on the place we left them, but there was nothing. Some abandened tree houses, some berries, but nothing else."
"Let's pack up and rest here a little bit. Izak, look for clues. Merlin, gather the berries. I have a feeling they won't come back." Merlin headed off, picking some blueberries.
"Whatever you're going to do, be safe" Izak kissed my cheek and went towards the treehouse. I went the other direction, a strong pull telling me there was a water source there. A wise place to hide, as animals would flock there for water and, of course, they would have something to drink.
"My gosh!" I yelled as I tripped and fell into a spring, but it had started turning into a bog. I got up and scraped the mud off my clothes, my powers doing nothing to get the mud off. I searched it through and through, and was about to leave when I saw a track not too far off. I began following the footsteps when a figure emerged for some brambles.
"Kaiti?" I ran forward, finding her, Aloe, and some boy.
"I thought you were an enemy at first, so I hid them." I nodded and we walked to the treehouse, finding Izak and Merlin eating berries.
"For some reason I seriously doubt you left any for me" Merlin blushed, but Izak smiled, his lips stained purple.
"So I see you found them"
"So I did"
"Lily, what happened to you? Did you dye your hair or something?"
"I went through something. It happens when you use your power to the full extent. You end up changing color of hair and eyes." She then preceded to pull a book out from under a rock.
"It has a ton of things about what makes us elementals. I flew at us when my change happened. I think we could use this." I looked at her and smiled; I hoped she would figure out why we came back.
"Where's Cai?" I looked at Aloe sullenly.
"He went a little crazy. He...he's somewhere. Gone. We don't know where." Aloe grabbed Lily as she went into her mind.
"Who's this little guy?" Merlin walked over and started pinching the little kid's cheeks.
"His name is Oliver. He has some power, but it's not fully formed yet." I nodded and then noticed the sun going down.
"Let's go inside and talk about it. Do you have somewhere for us to stay?"
"Yeah, I created some rooms just in case you came back."
