I woke up first, so I went around getting ready to cook breakfast. I lit the fire with my hand, and began to look for something edible. I finally stumbled upon some chanterelles, which were so bright yellow that cheese had nothing on it. I cooked them over the fire, the smell was kind of good. A crunching sound drew my attention to farther out, away from the glade. I limped towards it, still feeling sore from being hurt. I guess even a healer cannot stop soreness. I tripped and fell; laying on some mud.
I kept screaming, unable to move. I was slowly sinking in mud. I screeched my until my throat was sore. Everytime I moved closer I would sink faster, making it impossible for me to escape. I was just giving up when I heard a yell from the distance. I screeched one last time, my throat scratching, and it painfully came out. "Izak!" an obviously female sound came, just far enough I could not distinguish who it was. I slapped the mud next to me, unable to speak. Kaiti ran by and I did it one more time. She heard and turned around. She saw what I was in, her face looking at me strangely. She then looked above me. I looked up to, sinking a little lower at the slight movement. A branch hung directly above me. She jumped up at grabbed it, bringing closer to me. I reached up and grabbed it. I tried pulling myself up, but the mud, or maybe it was quicksand, held me down, like I was suctioned to it. Kaiti saw me moving out, and the branch made a big "crack". She then did the one thing that would break the branch, and jumped off. The branch broke and dropped me back into the quicksand, but a little less deep than before. "Izak, I have an idea but you need to stay still." Kaiti said and I still could not make a sound in reply. She then bent down and focused on the sand, holding some in her hand.
I felt a current rise in the quicksand, pulling me to the shore. Kaiti fell to the ground, exertion apparent on her face. I finally got to shore, just in time to stop Kaiti from collapsing. I began carrying her back to the camp when I fell to the ground. I was weak and so was she. She looked up at me as I tried apologizing with my voice just above a whisper. She put her finger to her lips as I looked into her eyes, sparkling crystal blue. She leaned up to kiss me, my heart racing. I then put my hand between us. She looked shocked, and I was definitely shocked. I then blurt out "I don't even know who I am right now, I don't think that I could have an intimate relation right now, I'm so sorry.". Her face seemed sad, but she said she understood. We helped each other and limped back, holding onto each other for support.
When we got back everyone looked relieved to see us, except Cai. Cai looked so upset, like he was...jealous? Could he be jealous? What could he be jealous about? I looked over at Aloe and Lily was getting really close to this guy that we barely knew. We need to stop these kinds of relationships from forming, but what could I do? They would just do it behind my back. I retreated to my leaf bed to contemplate how to do it, and stayed there until the morning.
I woke up, food resting in front of me. Props for remembering to give me food, but I guess they could have checked if I was awake first. I walked outside of camp, looking for a place for my food. Everyone was passed out around the campfire, as no one told them to go to sleep. Kaiti moved as I walked by here but everyone else was dead still. I went to the river and dumped the food into the stream, the stream taking it away from camp.
When I got back Cai and Lily were both up, groggy, but up. They were cooking something that smelt delicious. They laughed, and then they finally noticed me. "Well it is time we got to talk, we barely got to see you since you were about resurrected." Cai said. I sat down with them and Lily blurted out "So you turned Kaiti down, huh?" with such anger that I was afraid she would turn back into a bully. "We just can't date right now can we? We have no family, nothing to lean back on, and we don't even know who we are right now." I said, feeling in my words that it was not the real reason. Lily looked at me suspiciously but did not pursue because Kaiti began to break up.
"What's the grub" Kaiti asked as we began to dish out the stuff Cai and Lily made, waking Aloe up in the process. I needed to question him, but the smell of the food was just so enticing. We gulfed it down, the taste out of this world. "What is this?" Aloe asked Cai and Lily. "Well, first Lily grew a mix of herbs from across the world, and some potatoes. After that, I just boiled it all together." They replied, making it just seem so easy to make something so good.
After we finished eating I asked Aloe if he would come into to a little private area with me. As soon as we got out of hearing distance I began to question him. He refused to give up his actual name, but he did tell me his story. He used to live in a small town not far from here, but then he found that he could heal wounds he went to look for more people like him. He found the school after seeing on the news report freak storms kept appearing over the area and figuring they may be different powers. When he found the school, they let him in, but he quickly realized it was a trap. He left, but his power kept growing from small wounds to animal attacks and even stabs. He was on his own until the animal attacked him, and then a week later I showed up, at least giving him human company, or close enough. Then that is when we were saved together.
