I scrabbled down my meal, the hot food filling my stomach. I laughed as the hunger pains faded away, but my laughter faded as it came right back up.
"I'm so sorry, I should have taken my time..." I stared in horror at my mess, upset.
"It's okay. We got this. Just, go lay down or something. Kaiti, can you wash this away? I'll take her to her room." I was led by the girl to a wide hollow, several trees over.
"Is this my room, it's huge! How did you know...?"
"We're trying to gather some people to help us save others like us. Up in a school, although it's more a prison ran by the government for elementals." I stood there, shocked at such governmental control. My dad works in the government. The one girl-I think her name was Anna?-came into the room. She rushed over the area, intruding in my space.
"Why are you in such a hurry?" The girl, Lily?, seemed worried too. Maybe her element was helpful or something?
"Saw something. Big. Gathering starting at School. Next experiments being chosen." Lily checked to make sure I was okay before rushing out. Anna came over to me, closing the gap between us swiftly.
"I know you don't want to hear this, but I must tell. You're father is the Principal, the one at the school." I widened my eyes and a tear, partially frozen, ran down my cheek.
"I can deal with him"
"Sadly, not all. You have sister, and she is there." Sophie. My sister. I broke down, realizing how much I've lost years of my life should have been there but wasn't. A circle froze around me, my emotions getting the better of me. I could barely keep it from freezing the tree. Anna left, but not before her hand froze. I hoped they could figure out a way to reverse it, but I barely pondered on the idea. I lay in my tree until past time to eat again, instantly falling asleep.
