Chapter Six

Dawn's POV

When you wake up each morning

And feel like callin'

It's the sound from car stereo. I'm on the way to my taping and yung driver ko nabobored na ata kaya nag patugtog.

When there's no one beside you

I'll be there to guide you

When the stars won't shine anymore

The song reminds me so much of Gab, three years ago since she left us unexpectedly but it's still painful. Sino ba naman ang inang hindi masasaktan kung mawala ang anak niya diba?

When the world is unkind

And your dreams they need more time

Yes, matagal na syang wala but her memories still remain, even we just spent it in a short period ogf time. Mabuti nga Kristy is there, she take care of me also the kids and Anton is always there. Ayisha and Jacobo still couldn't forget how their ate left especially Ayisha, sya kasi ang nakakita kung ano ang nangyari sa ate niya at wala syang nagawa.

The rainbow will end in the palm of your hand

I look out the window and watch the blue sky. "I wish you're alright there Gab." I murmured

"Ma'am?" tawag ng driver saakin

I stop my emo moments and wipe my cheeks, may tulo kasing luha.

"Ano yun manong?" I asked

"Malapit na pong maubos yung gas natin Ma'am pa karga po muna tayo."

Dumaan kami sa kalapit na gasoline station. I look for my wallet at inabot kay manong ang perang pambayad.

Ibabalik ko na sana ang wallet sa bag kaso hindi ko pa naisasara iyon ay nahulog ito. At nalaglag ang ibang laman.

Pinulot ko yung mga papel na iba ay resibo lang naman. Until I pick up the last paper in the car's floor. Nakataob ito kaya I thought it's just also a receipt kaso may nakasulat doon. Kaya tiningnan ko. It was Gabriella's picture after the quiz bee contest. Hindi ko napanood yunnoon dahil tinawagan ako ni Kristy that she has ping pong contest, nawala sa isip ko yung quiz bee.

"Ma, as was chosen to be the quiz bee representative in our section, I hope you can come." Gabriella said while they are having merienda in the Garden.

"Of course sweetie, Mama won't missed that, kailan ba yan?"

"This coming Friday Ma mga 2:30 magstart, sa auditorium ng school"

"I still have a shoot in the morning, siguro hanggan 10:30, kaya makakadating ako ng on time nyan" she said and tap her daughters head.

The Quiz Bee day came and everyone in the house is excited.

Before Gabriella leave the house Anton give her a good luck kiss and promise that he will be there even if it was late. Dawn also deed the same way.

It was 2:15 in the afternoon 15 minutes before the contest but Dawn neither Anton still doesn't arrived.

The quiz bee start but there's no Dawn and Anton, inside the auditorium.

"Tita, we have a surprise game sa ping pong, can you came here kahit sandal lang to see how I play?" Kristy said on the phone. "I think 10 minutes before Gab's game tapos nap o yung game ko Tita, please?" she added

"Ok Kristy, sabay na din tayo pumunta doon sa Quiz bee in Gab" Dawn said

It was passed 3:00 in the afternoon when Dawn's phone rang, it was Anton calling

"Hun? Where are you? Tapos nab a yung contest ni Gab?" Anton asked

Dawn was speechless, she look at her watch and it was 3:10 the contest starts at 2:30

"Gosh! Dawn!" nasabi na lamang niya patapos na ang game ni Kristy, she left the gym and went to auditorium where the quiz bee event held.

She run, hindi na niya ininda ang high heels niya.halos magkasabay lang sila ni Anton nakarating sa Auditoruim.

Palabas na ang mga tao ng marating nila ang loob ng auditorium.

"Where have you been? Kanina ka pa ba dito?" sunod sunod na taong ni Anton sa kanya, kaso hindi sya makasagot sa sobrang hingal.

Because Anton didn't receive any answer from Dawn he ask one of the audience

"Pare, sino ang nanalo?" he ask

"Ah yung Lagdameo, wala naman atang makakatalo doon hindi nga binigyan ng pagkakataon ang kalaban." Kwento ng lalaki

"Sige salamat" sabi ni Anton

Maya-maya dumating ang hinhingal na si Kristy.

"Tita!" tawag niya kay Dawn " Hindi nyo man lang po hinintay ang awarding, I got the bronze medal she said happily at pinakita ang hawak na medal."

Dawn congratulate Kristy, while Anton went to staff to ask where is their daughter.

But the staff said that she already left for another contest to be held in the other school.

Instead the staff handed Anton a picture. " I bigay ko daw po yan sa parents niya." Sabi ng staff

It was Gab's picture after the contest halatang newly print pa lang dahil na ngangamoy pa yung ink.

Anton flips it and read the written word in the back.

Without any word Anton silently left and handed the picture to Dawn.

Dawn read the writings in the back.

"I know you both busy Mama and Papa. Its ok will still have a lot of contest to attend. By the way I got the first place, but I can't say it to you personally because you're both not here, and I need to go to another unexpected contest. Maybe we can just celebrate at home, If there could be a celebration.

You both are my inspiration."

Dawn tears started to roll again. Why is it that she is so insensitive when it comes to her daughter?

She wipes her tears off again when her phone rang. It was unregistered number

"Yes Hello?" I asked

"Is this Kristy's parents?" the other line said

"Yes? Why? Who's this please?"

"This is Imperial International School, we need your presence here Ma'am" I also called your husband and he is also coming."

"Why? What happened?" I asked again

"Just come here, as soon as possible"
