"This is my flock." Max said, "I'm Maximum Ride, the silent one is Fang, the strawberry blonde is Iggy."
"I'm blind." Iggy said.
"The fashionable girl is Nudge, that's Gazzy and Angel. The only blood relatives in our flock. Oh, and the dog is Total." Max continued. They all nodded in greeting as they sat in the kitchen/living room area. Wonder Girl sat on the couch with Red Robin, Nudge, Angel, and Total, Max sat next to Fang at the kitchen island across from Nightwing and Batgirl, and Bart stood with Gazzy and Iggy in the kitchen.
"You guys have a nice place, here." Total said, looking around.
"OMG! He talks!!" Wonder Girl shrieked as she jumped up from the couch.
"Pfft, don't all dogs?" Nudge giggled.
"We have wings. Isn't that surprise enough?" Angel asked.
"Been there, done that." Bart called from the kitchen.
"Two of our newest recruits are just like you six. They're twins." Red Robin said.
"Really?!" Gazzy asked, and Bart nodded.
"I have superspeed." Bart said, and demonstrated, running around the room, then grabbing a glass of water and bringing it to Gazzy.
"Ooh, thanks!" Gazzy thanked him and took the cup.
"So, you have questions?" Max asked Nightwing. He nodded and he eyed their hands, Fang's were on Max's. He refrained from asking any questions.
"Ahem, yeah." Nightwing cleared his throat as he turned on his holo-computer. Then he pulled up a picture of Scandal Savage, "you said you knew her. Anything you could tell us about her?"
"Yeah, some." Fang said.
"I don't know or remember her at all..." Max said, "how? Where?"
"It was about four years ago. We went to New York in search of a society that could tell us where to find our parents." Fang explained, "we found nothing. Well, Nudge found a few files on us that were, apparently, not true. That wasn't all we found, though." Fang stopped and cleared his throat. Everyone was listening now, "Gazzy found a secret door that led to a large warehouse-sized room filled with cages. An experiment was held in each one. That's where Ange got Total. Max ordered Ig to open one of the cages, and in it, was a girl with long blonde hair and silvery-white wings. She looked so innocent and you'd never know that she was the daughter of a villain."
"Wait, THAT was HER?!" Max gasped.
"You really have a great memory..." Iggy muttered.
"So she was kidnapped and given wings?" Batgirl asked.
"Most likely." Fang nodded.
"But who would kidnap her?"
"Whitecoats. They're the insane buttheads that gave us our wings." Fang said.
"But then again, having wings does have their advantages." a voice said from the hallway leading to all the bedrooms in the cave. They all turned, startled.
"Erm... Jet?" Wonder Girl called, "where is he?!"
"I don't see him anywhere..." Red Robin said.
"What are you talking about?" Gazzy asked.
"Heh, I can't see him either..." Iggy smirked.
"No time for jokes, Ig." Max said.
"Uh...what does he look like?" Fang asked.
"Just like you." Jet said, suddenly reappearing behind Fang. He jumped a little and turned.
"Wha..." Max gaped as she and the rest of everyone in the room stared at Jet.
"Jet!" Soaren called from the hall as she ran in. She halted to a stop as soon as she saw Max turn to her.
"Whoa...." Nudge gasped.
"She looks like the spitting image of Max!" Gazzy pointed out.
"You're..." Soaren gasped.
"Max. Maximum Ride." Max said.
"Yeah, I...know you." Soaren smiled, "I never thought I'd actually get to know you. I'm a huge fan. We are."
"We read your blog." Jet told Fang.
"Blog?" Batgirl asked.
"Yeah. I've been keeping up with it for years." Fang answered.
"Well...I have so much to tell you..." Soaren said.
"And you can tell her after we're done talking here." Nightwing said.
"Yeah, of course." Soaren said, "sorry for interrupting you guys." She apologized, "c'mon Jet..." She said as she slapped Jet's back. He snapped back into reality and casually nodded to Fang, who nodded back, then they left.
"How did he do that? I couldn't see him at all!" Max said.
"That's one of his powers. He can blend in with his surroundings." Nightwing said, "those are the two new recruits that have wings."
"They have wings?!" Max said, "and he can disappear?"
"Believe me, nothing surprises me. Even if pigs can fly and talk." Wonder Girl laughed.
"No, it's just that..." Fang said, "I have those same abilities."
"You guys can talk to them after. Right now, our priority is Scandal Savage." Nightwing said.
"Is that her name?"
"Yeah." Nightwing answered Max.
"We're willing to help in any way." Fang said.
"What?!" Max asked, "who said you can start calling the shots?!"
"She seems dangerous." Fang said.
"But she's one of us. Plus, she never did anything to you!" Max responded.
"We can take her out easily, before she becomes a bigger threat." Fang said.
"It's true. We could really use your help. Especially to have more people like her." Batgirl said. Max looked at Fang, then at the rest behind her. She groaned and turned to Nightwing,
"We're in." She said, and Nightwing smiled,
"We can track her down, and we'll neutralize her." Nightwing said, "once and for all." Then he turned to Batgirl, "It's time for a mission briefing."
