Episode/Chapter 20 - Corrupted

"How did we get roped into this?" Robin grumbled as he and Jet sat on the ledge of a building in Gotham.

"The real question is how I got roped into this..." Jet replied as he rubbed his forehead.

"Grayson forced me to come do patrol in Gotham, but I don't see the point. There's nothing happening..." Robin said as he got up and started slashing the air with his sword.

"Maybe we need to actually go out there and find something." Jet shrugged.

"Oh please. We'll hear when something happens. Just wait." Robin said.

Suddenly, an alarm went off at a bank.

"See what I mean?" Robin said as he shot his grappling hook to one building and swung off.

"Wait, so why am I here again?" Jet called as he jumped off the building, extended his wings and flew after him.

"Hmph. Just an ordinary bank robbery. This is going to be fun..." Robin rolled his eyes once they got to the crime scene. They ran into the bank, where the lights were out, and there was only a red 'Exit' light above the door, "okay. Wherever you are, come on out. I've got a sword, and I'm not afraid to use it." Robin threatened as he drew his sword from its sheath on his hip.

"Strange. I don't see anyone..." Jet said.

"Wait... Shh..." Robin shushed Jet, and they waited silently, until they saw a figure dart out, "Grab him!"

Jet nodded, ran forward, and grabbed the figure before it could make it out the door.

"Wow, you're a fast one, aren't you?" Jet smirked as he held the figure's hands behind his back, "no show yourself."

"You two are going to have to do better than that." The robber said, and Jet gasped when he realized the robber was a girl about their age.

"Okay, look. Let's not make this harder than it already is." Robin said with his hands up in caution.

"I will if I have to." the robber said, jumped up, yanked her hands away, and kicked Jet back. When she turned around, she gasped as soon as she saw Robin, and Robin gasped too.

"...You..." Robin said.

"I gotta go..." the girl said and pulled her hood further over her face, then ran.

"Why didn't you grab her?!" Jet asked as he ran up to Robin.

"I.... Know that girl..." Robin said.

"Who is she? A friend? Someone who robbed this bank, and you just let her get away?"

"She..." Robin said, "she was one of the three victims from school we were trying to save from Red X a long time ago. For some reason, the teachers of Gotham Academy and College Prep had no idea who she was, and she was the only one who didn't get any powers."

"Wait, so you mean that she was at the school that day... But no one knew who she was?"

"Yeah. I'm confused about that too." Robin thought hard, "we need to follow her."

"Uh, that's what I was going to do, anyways." Jet said, and they ran out and followed the robber.
