Young Justice Season 4 - The Red X Factor

Episode/Chapter 11 - Frozen

Alex jolted up in bed and saw he was lying in a hospital bed at the cave. He looked to his right and saw Olivine in the same state as him, then he started remembering what had happened.

"Hey." Alex turned to see Bette walk up to him, "how are you feeling?"

"I feel like crap..." Alex held his head, "how's Olivine?"

"She's still asleep, but she's doing better." Bette answered.

"How about Miss Martian?"

Silence.

"She was...you two were knocked out when you tried to fight off Red X, right? Well, you guys were knocked out, and...he took her."

"We need to get her back!!" Alex said, sitting up straight.

"But you're in no condition to fight." Bette said.

"Yes I am! We have to go!" Alex said as he got out of the bed and stood up. Bette gasped when she saw that the bruises on his body were suddenly gone.

"How did..."

"It's my DNA. Ally and I heal faster than the ordinary humans." Alex answered, "now, we need to get a squad together and go after that son of a bi--"

"Alex? Bette?"

The two turned to see Olivine had gained consciousness.

"Hey..." Alex ran over to her and rested his hand on her forehead, "you okay?"

"Yeah...yeah, I'm a little better." Olivine sat up a little, then scooted to sit on the edge of the hospital bed, "what's going on?"

"We need to go find Red X. He has M'gann." Alex said.

"I can contact Nightwing. But I don't know what he'd say about leaving immediately. We don't even know where to look for them!"

Alex's teeth clenched in anger. He felt responsible for M'gann's kidnapping, and he needed to get her back to feel whole again.

"Just call him." Alex said, and Bette left.

"Etacol eht noitacol fo ssiM naitraM." Zatanna recited the spell, and a red dot appeared on the holographic map of the globe that Nightwing had pulled up.

"So, where is she?" Jet asked.

"She's in... Antarctica." Nightwing answered.

"What would Red X want from Antarctica?" Bette asked.

"Not sure. But all I know is we need to head out there if we want to find out." Nightwing said, "we need to assemble an Alpha Squad for this mission. Who's available?"

"Tim is busy patrolling, Barbara's visiting with her dad, everyone else is busy with either school or work..." Bette said as she reviewed everyone's status on the cave computer.

"Well, we're available." a voice called from the hall, and they turned to see Kid Flash, Superboy, and Beast Boy.

"Guys, this is Antarctica. Are you sure?" Bette asked.

"I love M'gann." Superboy said, "I'd do anything to get her back."

"Yeah. And she's the only family I have left." Beast Boy added.

"Well, then, Alpha Squad. Me, Kid Flash, Superboy, Beast Boy, Jet, and Night Owl." Nightwing said.

"Okay." Bette said, "we'll split the squad into three groups of two. We have the coordinates, and make sure we can scour the entire continent."

"We shouldn't be expecting any blizzards or major storms while we're there." Nightwing said, "which is why we take on polar stealth throughout the entire mission. But safety rules: If there does happen to be a blizzard, hunker down. Dig down, and stay in until the storm dies down."

"So the groups of two. Alpha is Nightwing and Kid Flash. Beta is Superboy and Beast Boy. Gamma is Jet and Night Owl." Bette said, organizing each person under each squad on the cave computer screen.

"Let's take the Bioship and head out." Nightwing said. They all nodded and headed out.

"So Miss Martian was able to identify the red substance as Sinothium." Oracle explained over the comm, then she streamed an image and statistics about the element onto a holographic screen into the Bioship, "it's a rare element from Mars, apparently. And Miss Martian and Martian Manhunter are the only beings on this planet that know about this. Well...were. Because now Red X knows that Miss Martian knows, and I'm sure he's going to get her to tell him."

"Do you know what we're looking for, Oracle?" Nightwing asked.

"Yeah. It's supposed to look like a metal barrack." Oracle answered, "uh, Nightwing? Your weather calculations might be a little off."

"Why?"

"You might want to hurry, because I have radar up, and there's a snow storm headed your way." Oracle said as she inspected a weather map "And it's not one of those little flurries. It's a blizzard. A huge, legit blizzard."
