Episode/Chapter 7 - School's Out Part 4

Nightwing didn't realize he had squeezed his eyes shut. He slowly opened them and saw that the school around him...was still in one piece. He turned around and saw that Superboy and even Slade were still waiting for an explosion.

>> Weeee're still....alive? << Impulse asked.

>> Ahahaha! Yes!! We are!! << Wonder Girl smiled brightly.

>> Oh my gosh, my heart felt like it was going to burst out of my chest... << Iggy breathed heavily as he held his chest.

>> You're fine, man. << Red Robin chuckled as he helped lead Iggy back to the auditorium.

>> You okay, Arty? << Kid Flash asked.

>> Yeah! << Artemis said, and he knew he could practically hear the smile on her face.

>> Good work team. Let's all head back to the cave. << Nightwing let out a huge sigh of relief, then he remembered, "Bring Slade. He could be useful to Robin." He smirked as Robin walked in and joined Nightwing on the stage.

"Thanks so much..." Robin shook Nightwing's hand.

"Without you, we couldn't have stopped him." Nightwing smiled, "I'm sorry I put you all in that position."

"Well, we all have to learn to face our fears at some point, right?" They turned and saw Batgirl approaching them. Nightwing walked up to her and they wrapped each other in a hug.

"Nice leadership skills today, Boy Wonder." Batgirl smirked.

"I'm so sorry, Barb. I really shouldn't have done that..."

"Hey..." Batgirl held his face and forced him to look at her, "you did it! You saved the students, the faculty, the school, and we're all still here, aren't we?"

"Yeah. I never would've come up with something like that." Kid Flash said as he and Artemis walked up to them, fingers entwined.

"Yeah. We would never have been able to do that ourselves." Max, Fang, and Iggy walked up to the small group, "well, maybe except for him. He could build a bomb in his sleep if he wanted to..." She gestured to Iggy, who smiled proudly and nodded.

"Well, we'll bring Slade to the cave, send him back to Jump City with Robin, and move on from there." Nightwing said. Suddenly, Impulse and Blue Beetle ran in, and they looked horrified.

"Guys!! Enough celebrating!! Get out here, now!!"

"What do you mean?! How many?!" Nightwing asked Professor Stein once the squad got outside with the rest of the school.

"Three." Professor Stein answered as he looked out to the students all sitting in the parking lot. There were some smashed cars, and he saw some paramedics and the school nurse treating a few students.

"What happened? Be specific. Don't hold back."

"We were all out here, and about five minutes after we got out, there were...ninja... They came and they kept us all silent. And about a minute later, another ninja arrived and he ordered that three of our students would be captured and taken."

"For what price?!"

"They will return the three once we turn in the Martian."

"We can't let them do that!" Superboy interjected.

"We won't let that happen." Nightwing reassured him, "for now, we have to go see to it that we get these kids back." Nightwing then turned to Professor Stein, "do you know who the students are?"

"Three girls. Joseline Kyle, Tristan Akins, and Natasha Irons."

"Tristan?!" Max asked, "that's..."

"And Natasha! That's the girl from Irons Jewelers!" Artemis said, "we have to go rescue them!"

"Of course!" Impulse smirked, "where do we start, Artemis?"

"Erm..." Artemis thought, "I..." Then she turned to Professor Stein, "you said they were ninja?"

"Yes." Professor Stein answered.

"Then you said that there was another ninja?"

"Yeah."

"What did he look like?"

"Uh, black, black cape, skull mask, and on his mask and heft was a red x."

"That's it! I know where we need to go!" Artemis ran up to Nightwing and typed in some coordinates, "these are the coordinated we get from Robin after he and Jet left." Artemis looked at Nightwing, and he nodded.

"We need to head back to the League of Shadows."

Hey guys! Sorry it took FOREVER to publish this chapter! I've just been so caught up in school, and my dad even wants me to start talking to the college counselor...I'M ONLY A FRESHMAN!! I've got, like, a couple more years before I have to start worrying about it!!!! XO
