Episode/Chapter 11 - Frozen Part 2

"Beta Squad, deploy." Nightwing ordered as the Bioship made an opening for Superboy and Beat Boy to jump out of. They jumped and landed in the snow.

"Beta in place and ready to search." Superboy said over the comm.

"Gamma Squad, deploy." Nightwing ordered, and it was Jet and Night Owl's turn to jump out into the snow.

"Gamma ready to search." Jet said over the comm.

"Bioship parked. We're good to go." Nightwing said after he parked the Bioship and he and Kid Flash got off it and into the cold.

"Stay on high alert. The storm is half an hour away." Oracle said.

"Yessir!" Kid Flash said as he and Nightwing walked on the frozen snow easily, "you sure it was a good idea to leave Jet and Night Owl by themselves? They are newbies..."

"Jet can bee a leader someday. I'm sure they'll be fine." Nightwing answered.

"And...not just that..." Kid Flash cleared his throat, "rethink that answer."

"Why?"

"Because leaving the two of them alone to find the base..."

"And?"

"Alone?" Kid Flash reemphasized.

"I don't see your point..."

"Dude, you do know they're a couple, right?"

Nightwing stopped in his tracks and turned back to Kid Flash. Clearly, he hadn't known.

"How do you know that?"

"Please. Impulse finds everything out before anyone else could. It's insane." Kid Flash answered.

"It's too late for that now. We just need to look for Red X." Nightwing said and they continued on.

"So, you and M'gann are still a thing, right?" Beast Boy asked.

"Yeah." Superboy responded as they climbed up a small ice hill to get to the top, "we still can't see very far. Think you can fly up and check out the surrounding areas?"

Beast Boy nodded and turned into a hawk. He flew up and around the hill, going further out and soaring in a giant circle.

"Anything?" Superboy called. Beast Boy flew back down and turned back into his human-monkey hybrid.

"Nothing. It's all just white, white, and more white. With the occasional blue of water."
Beast Boy described as Superboy jumped off the hill and scanned the never-ending expanse of snow and ice.

"Maybe we should go check out another area?" Beast Boy suggested.

"Sure. I mean, there's nothing else we can do." Superboy sighed as Beast Boy jumped down and joined him in walking further.

"What happens if we find them first?" Night Owl asked, "we can't fight him by ourselves. The last time we did that, it didn't end well."

"That's why we just fight him harder than we did before." Jet answered as they continued walking.

"But if we fail, they're gonna end up having to rescue us too..."

"Don't worry." Jet turned to her, "we'll be okay. We got this."

"I hope you're right." Night Owl sighed, but then they stopped when they saw a giant gray cloud coming towards them overhead, which was then followed by multiple strong flurries of snow, frozen snow, and tiny pieces of hail and ice, "but should we at least contact Nightwing?"

"Nah. I don't want them to have to worry about us." Jet said.

"You're the independent one." Night Owl smirked as they trudged closer to the storm.

"Sure, you could say that." Jet shrugged, and he took out a pair of googles, "if we're going to get through this, you'd probably want to wear these."

"Thanks." Olivine took them and put them on over her mask, "let's go."

Jet nodded and they continued on into the storm.

"M'gann..."

That....that voice....

"M'gann M'orzz...she's beautiful..."

...Who...it's familiar, but...

"But...she's white...how will she be treated..."

"We will take care of her...Don't worry."

Is this a dream?

"Shh...she's waking up."

M'gann could somehow see through the blurry brightness of white. She then realized that this was a vision. Of her past. When she was born.

"Hi, Little M'gann..."

Mother? M'gann's eyes started to tear up. She didn't know what was actually going on, or where she really was, but she really didn't care and she cried anyways, Mother, it's me...

"A white Martian....let's just hope when she grows up, she will be treated well." M'gann heard her father say, but everything started to fade away, and M'gann suddenly woke up in a cell.

"Well, well, well..." She looked up to see Red X standing in front of her, "finally awake. Took you long enough."

"Where am I? Why am I here?" M'gann looked around.

"I brought you here." Red X knelt down in front of her, "you have something that I just so happen to be in need of." Suddenly, he grabbed her neck and yanked her towards him, holding her face inches away from his mask, "where are you keeping the Sinothium, Martian?"

"I'm not saying anything..." M'gann said, then as she watched him, her eyes turned green, and she tried to use her mind to move him...but it only made him laugh.

"You silly child. My mask has the technologies to siphon off your telepathic waves." Red X explained as he used his free hand to tap his mask.

"So I may not be able to do that. But I've still got some tricks up my sleeve." M'gann said and she looked at Red X intently, her eyes turning blue this time. A new thing she was working on: X-Ray vision.

"NO!!" Red X yelled and he threw her to the side, her head hitting the stone wall.

"Y-you...But...wh-why...." M'gann groaned before her eyes shut and she slipped into unconsciousness.
