Being home alone on a Friday night gave me the idea to raid dad's liquor cabinet. After a few drinks I flipped out my phone and scrolled through my contacts, my selector hovered between Caleb and Stef. I clicked the call button and pressed the phone to my ear. "Hello?" "Hey, what's up?" I opened my eyes with a smile at the sound of Caleb's voice. "Nothing really, but I have a free house, want to come over?" I could hear the smile in his voice. "Have you been drinking?" "Yup." "I'll be right over." Before he hung up I heard keys jingling and a door slamming shut.

About ten minutes later he rang the door bell. I swayed from side to side as I clutched the door frame to keep myself upright, it took a lot of drink to get me like this. Caleb entered the house, his eyes wide. "Your house is huge." "Yes it is." I closed the door behind him. "The booze is this way." I attempted to walk back to the living room but tripped over my ankle, and fell straight into Caleb's arms.

"How much have you had to drink tonight?" I smiled at him and shook my head. "I don't even know anymore." Before I could protest he scooped my legs up and carried me to the couch, past the large clock near the door that read '3:47'. I hadn't realised how late it was when I called Caleb.

"It's so late. Why did you come?" He set me down and got me a glass of water. "Because I wanted to make sure you're okay and that you stay that way." I sipped the water as he started around the room, cleaning away the bottles of vodka, gin and shots. "Where's your room?" I giggled. "Wouldn't you like to know?" "Kathy... Where is it?" I rolled my eyes and set down my water. "Upstairs, turn right, second on the left."

He reappeared with the blanket and pillows from my bed and laid them on the couch. "Time for you to sleep." He attempted to get me to lie down but I pulled him over my shoulder and onto the couch behind me. He seemed tired so he pulled me into his arms and began to stroke my hair. It didn't take long for me to fall into a deep, alcohol induced sleep.

What felt like moments turned out to be hours as I woke to find the curtains were pulled and the smell of soup streaming in from the kitchen. I rolled over and fell off the couch; before I hit the ground a pair of strong hands caught me. "Careful. I'm pretty sure neither of us fancy a trip to the hospital." He grinned as he placed me back on the couch and lifted over a tray with soup, coffee and water in it.

I picked up the spoon and scooped some soup into my mouth. It was delicious, the nausea in my stomach seemed to calm and my head ache was relieved a bit. "I'll take care of you today." As he said that I heard my heart rate speed up and a smile spread across my face.

Monday morning rolled around too fast, with Caleb staying most of the weekend, he even drove me to school. It was like that scene from twilight where everyone stared at them as they walked across the car park, only I didn't care about people staring at me.

I noticed that my locker was an absolute mess, when we got to it, as Caleb stood talking to me. "I'll be back in a minute." He walked off towards the toilets as Stef came around the same corner. "Kathy, I know why you broke up with me now." "And why is that Stef?" I rolled my eyes and attempted to sort out my locker. "I know what you are, and its okay, I love you just the same." I hid my worries from my expression. "Do tell me, what apparently am I?" The only word he came up with was 'angel'.

Caleb came back again and slammed Stef into the lockers, holding him there. "How did you know about me? Did Gabriel send you?" His questions came out erratic and panicked. "I-I-I... Wait, you're an angel? I thought it was Kathy?"

Caleb's eyes went wide as he dropped Stef to the floor. "Sorry, I have to go before anyone else finds out." He took off running down the corridor. With one look at Stef's confused and panicked face, and ran after him.

"Caleb wait!" He turned down an empty corridor before stopping in his tracks and leaned his head against a locker. "Stay back Kathy. I'm a freak." I slowed down to a walk. "You aren't the only one." He looked around as I used my vampire speed to reach him. His eyes widened. "You're a..." "Yup. But I just want to live a normal life. So I drink animal blood or use a blood bag." He slowly smiled and grabbed my hand. "Let's ditch." I smiled back and let myself get dragged along by the angel.

It was no problem sneaking out this time. Driving felt oddly relaxing as we sped to the outskirts of Belfast and towards the cliff. We both climbed onto the hood of the car and leaned against the windscreen.

"So do you have fangs?" Caleb had been quizzing me for the last fifteen minutes. "Yeah." "Can I see them?" I opened my mouth and let my fangs snap down into place. "Woah." I retracted them again. "How long have you been on earth?" He took a moment to think.

"About two hundred and fifty years, give or take a century. But I've been around for longer than that. I moved about from school to school so no one would suspect anything, the whole never aging thing gets pretty old after a while."

I nodded and smiled as he sat up, and leaned closer until we were inches away from each other. I moved closer as well before my phone rang, I sighed before answering and pressing it to my ear. "Stef, not a good time to talk."
