Sneaking through the halls with Elijah was harder than anticipated with the army of a few hundred vampires around the castle. We found our way to outside the throne room, opening the door by a fraction to peek in. some quiet muttering of well dressed vampires was silenced by the powerful voice of Jensen. "Caleb my boy. How are you?" He paused for a brief second before walking over to him.
"You've lost. I have my Katherina in a safe place, along with your brother, and you're here for me to make you an offer." Elijah edged closer to the door, causing me to pin him against the wall so I could listen more.
"I want you to join us in our vision to overthrow that royal bitch and form one coven that will be, of course, ruled by me and Katherina. So either you join us or die!"
Jensen backed away from Caleb to give him time to consider his proposal. I peeked in again to see his face. Caleb attempted to move to his feet but his legs gave way and he fell back to his knees. "Go to hell, whatever you do to me my soul will go to heaven."
Jensen tapped one finger against his lips. "That is the problem with you angels, pesky souls. Oh well. I guess I'll have to use the tail of a Kitsunea to drain it from you first." Caleb started struggling to move away from him. Elijah was flailing his arms, trying to free himself from my grip. "We have to stop this." He burst through the door. This caused the vampires to turn and gasp before muttering amongst themselves.
Elijah took a few slow paces forward. "So Jensen, where would you get a Kitsunea tail from? They would have to give them up and they went extinct, thanks to you. So please tell us more about this tail that you happen to have." Jensen seemed distracted enough for me to sprint down the thin isle to grab Caleb. "Are you okay?" His low whisper sounded pained as he grabbed my arm. "I'm fine, and I'll never leave you behind."
A slow clap spread through the room as guards burst through the door, pinning Caleb and Elijah to the ground. "Well that was a lovely attempt my dear, but let's get real now." He groaned, quickly composing his face. "I am aware that these common rebels have an infatuation towards you, but you are mine." He shouted the last three words as the other guards surrounded me. "And you will never leave again."
Before I even had time to think my elbow shot back and connected with the jaw of the guard behind me, just as my knee kicked up at another. Both fell to the ground, clutching at their injuries. That left three more. One by one they attacked; the first two went down quickly. The last, and biggest, grabbed my head and tried to snap my neck.
"NO!" Caleb and Elijah cried in unison. Small creaks were coming from my neck as I reached towards his chest. The sound of his ribs cracking filled the room as I reached his heart. His limp body fell to the ground in a pool of dark red on the stone and carpet.
The coy smile that had been spread across Jensen's face quickly disappeared as he made a break for the door. He almost made it, his hand half way out before I slammed into his back causing the door to slam shut and remove the his hand. His scream cut through the chatting of the spectating vampires.
"Let me make this as clear as I possibly can. I. Am. Not. Yours. I never have or will be. If you don't stop coming after us it will be your head that comes off, not your hand." I let go of him, forcing him to fall to the ground. "And just because you turned me doesn't mean I owe you anything."
I returned to Caleb while the rest of the guards sprinted to help Jensen, Elijah already had him over his shoulder. He gestured to the skylight on the roof. Jensen called towards me in agony. "You'll pay for this you little bitch." I squeezed Caleb's hand. "Hold on, we're almost out." I bent my legs and leapt up as hard as I could, crashing through the glass of the skylight.
