I turned to see a tall slim man leaning against the tree. He stared at me with a mixture of emotion in his eyes. "Who are you?" He simply shook his head. "You're talking to Caleb, interesting choice of friends."
He moved across the ground with lightning speed, moving to stand in front of me. "Sorry sweetheart, but the boss wants you. Read your phone." I peeked down at the phone in my hand.
I opened the messages and looked at the other message that had been left. 'Hey, remember how I said I would come back for you? Well I'm back and you will be mine.' I turned back to the mystery guy standing a few feet in front of me.
"Okay, so what is it that you want?" He took another step forward. "Your life here is now over. Your life was over as soon as he turned you; you just refused to accept it. I'm here to bring you to him, as he is my maker as well."
I looked back at the house where my dad was napping. If I refused this guy could hurt or kill him. But if I did go with him I'd have to leave everything I have here, which would hurt dad and Caleb. I centered my gaze on a tree at the far end of the garden and let myself go.
I flew through the air, as if I was flying instead of running. I stopped myself before I hit into the tree and continued to speed down the road as I headed for the cliff. I managed to hold onto my phone as I weaved in and out of the trees and sent a message to Caleb.
'I need help now. Meet me at the cliff.' I thought about messaging Stef, but I still wasn't happy with him. It was easier when I had gotten into the city, the cars drive faster and more people were walking around so it was easier to blend in. I risked a few glances behind me to see if he was still after me. I seemed to have lost him as I reached the short cut to the cliff.
Caleb was waiting near the edge, his arms were crossed and his expression was concerned. I spared no time in racing straight into his arms, which nearly knocked us both over the edge, as I knew that guy was still after me. "Woah, what is it?" He pulled me back to examine my face. "Some guy showed up when the sky thing was happening, it was beautiful by the way, and tried to make me go with him. So I ran and, oh god, now I've involved you. What if he hurts you...?" He stared deep into my eyes. "He won't hurt me. What's his name?"
I opened my mouth to tell him I didn't know when a voice from behind stole the words from my mouth. "She doesn't know. But I'm surprised that you didn't guess." I looked between the two as they stared at each other. "You know I was only sent to get her, but I think my maker would appreciate this too." With that he lunged forward at Caleb and I. He pounced with lightning speed and almost flew towards us, his arms stretched out. I closed my eyes and hid my head in Caleb's chest.
Moments later and I was still waiting for him to get us. I lifted my head to find a brightly lit room, with all the décor shiny white. I looked at Caleb who tensed up. "Caleb? What's wrong? Where are we?" He looked down with pain behind his eyes. "We're in heaven." A beam of light shot from the ceiling and a man stepped out from it.
He was dressed from head to toe in white with a black cane tucked under his arm. He moved towards us, Caleb reacted by pulling me closer and pushing me behind his body. "Caleb my boy. It's been decades since you prayed to us, what happened?" Caleb started to edge us back towards the marble fireplace at the far side of the room.
"We'll just say that I haven't got the most faith in the world." The mysterious man in white matched the pace of our steps and advanced. My eyes widened as Caleb reached into his pocket and produced a silver cylinder. "Oh come now boy, you think I'm intimidated by that?" He then slid one of his own out of the sleeve of his suit. Simultaneously the cylinders sprung open and shifted into daggers. I gasped and the advancing man turned his head to stare at me, he lifted his dagger and pointed it at me.
"I take it that you are Caleb's little play thing." He shifted his glance back to Caleb. "Wasn't a girl why you fell?" Caleb held a steady glare. We were still pacing backwards at a steady rate, until my back came into contact with the cold, hard marble of the fireplace. Caleb glanced around for a second, when he turned back he was knocked to the side by the cane. "We haven't been properly introduced." He grabbed my hand. "I'm Gabriel, Caleb's father."
