The next morning was mostly the same as the last, waking up in Caleb's arms, followed by a shower and some blood that was brought round by Mrs. Gibson. I flipped open my phone to check for any messages, the screen flashed white before it died. I left the phone sitting on the table beside the socket to charge while Caleb got ready for us to check out a few of the shops.
The streets were lined with people as they were last night, when we arrived. The people dodged around us as we darted along between shops, it had been ages since I had been shopping properly so we took this opportunity to stock up on supplies for when we will hit the road next. While Caleb had dashed into a supermarket for some non perishable food, I nipped down to the local blood donation clinic.
The window to the east of the building was slightly open, allowing me to sneak in. The only staff working was an elderly lady who was busy trying to calm a patient; it looked like it was his first time donating. Past them was the door to the cooler room where the blood was.
The old woman didn't see me as she was restraining the young man to keep him from tearing the needle out of his arm, however while I was slipping through the door I caught sight of him staring at me. I definitely needed to be quick, and I was as I grabbed four or five blood bags, shoving them into the small backpack I had and headed for the window in that room. The sound of the woman coming through the door caused me to drop out of the window and run underneath the windowsill.
The quick dash along the road led me back to the supermarket that Caleb had gone into, with him standing out in front of the door, a few shopping bags in hand. "How'd your shopping go?" He teased as he reached out and took my bag, slinging it across his shoulder, before taking my hand. "Not too bad, got enough to last me a while. Some O negative, an AB positive." I smiled as we walked back to Gusto's hidden place.
When we got back I flopped onto the bed as Caleb picked up my charged phone. "You have a message, from Stef... Oh shit. We need to go, now. Pack all the stuff you want to take; I'll let Gusto know that we had to leave." My eyebrows furrowed as I followed his instructions. When he left the room I snatched the phone off the bed and read the message. 'Won't be much of Stef left after today's school day.'
My eyes went wide as I threw myself into overdrive, stuffing as many tops and trousers and I could into the bag before repacking the blood bags on top. I met up with Caleb out by the car. "We need to get there as soon as we can." He chucked our bags in the boot of the car, before getting in and sticking it in drive.
Few hours later and the final school bell was about to ring as we pulled into the school car park. The bell sounded as we charged up the steps and burst through the door to find an empty corridor. Before the halls could be filled with students we climbed onto the lockers and into the roof.
