"Ow!" I woke a few hours later to a poke in the stomach. The sun glared down, even though it was partially covered by a man who stood in some kind of uniform. "Jesus Christ! You idiots, she's alive!" He yelled over his shoulder towards what looked like a cop car. 'Oh shit, I'm still a missing person.' My mind was spinning.
A young looking police officer walked over and took a look at me. "Hey, isn't she that girl off the TV?" Another officer joined and they all nodded. "Are you, umm, oh, Kathy Price" I nodded. "What are you doing lying in blood?" I sat up and felt my back; all the skin had healed itself while my neck was repairing. "I passed out, woke up here." The two officers stared at me while the third man walked away. "Okay, well let's get you back to your dad."
The officers each took an arm and they set me in the back seat of the police car. They started the engine and headed in the direction of Belfast. My head raced to Caleb, listening as far as I could, but I couldn't find him. I lay my head against the back of the seat and closed my eyes.
The car jolted to a halt outside the house. My dad came running out to meet us as they opened the door. "Any sign of the asshole who took her." He reached his hand out to me, but I whacked it out of the way. "Don't touch me, I need to find Caleb. He didn't take me; I went away with him because he had family business he needed me with him to take care of."
The police officers watched awkwardly as I stormed past them all and headed into the house. I took the stairs at a flying pace, straight to my room. I locked my bedroom door and headed to the wardrobe. The sound of the wardrobe doors being torn off the hinges caused the three men outside to get out of the car and come into the house.
I screamed as I threw the door out the open window, it shattered against a tree at the far end of the garden. I heard the police officers click the safety off their pistols as they came up the stairs. I ripped my current, bloodied clothes off and found a pair of black jeans and black sneakers. The knock on my bedroom door caused me to vamp-speed dress and grab and long black top.
My door burst down as I made my way to the window. "Kathy, what is going on?" Two guns pointed at me caused me to start laughing. "Back away from the window." The younger officer shook slightly as he pointed his pistol at me. I giggled as I swung my leg out the window.
"Kathy, you'll hurt yourself!" I shook my head, still laughing, and jumped out. Literally hitting the ground running. The only logical stop was Stef's house; he needed to know what had happened. The familiar town of my youth zoomed past me on my way.
No sign of life at his house. "Shit!" I guess now I'm going to have to go in without any back up. I left a note for Stef, to let him know what had gone down. No other option but to leave alone and get my boyfriend from that crazy psycho.
It was normally Caleb who stole the cars so this was a new one for me. A local supermarket car park was lined with cars as people were doing their midweek shopping. I walked up and down the lanes until I came to a shiny red Ferrari.
I'm not sure what happened to my Lamborghini but a Ferrari would be a good replacement. The wires under the steering wheel worked, as I forced them together, the car roared to life before I pulled out of the car park.
Something that had been affecting me since day one of a vampire was the pull of the maker, calling me to where he is. I sped along the road for hour before turning up a long winding lane which lead to what looked like a massive castle.
The threshold of the castle was decorated with thick red carpets and lavish paintings, inviting you inside. The walls and floor looked like cold stone behind the distractions. I crossed over the door way. A mist drifted over the room, causing me to drop to the floor. A voice came from deeper into the castle, causing me to search the room.
But it was to no avail until two figures vamp-sped into the room and approached me. "Just where I've always wanted you, kneeling before me." He turned to face the woman with him. "Black out time." She came closer to grab my hair before raising her fist and smashed it into my face.
I woke in a cell that was made out of pure iron. The guard outside stood with his back to me, it would be so easy to grab the key off him now. A rattle from the cell next door caused me to go to that side of my cell, at first he looked like another foot soldier of Jensen's army. It took a second for my eyes to adjust to his face. "Elijah?" "Kathy? Shit! I'm so sorry. I never wanted to take Caleb to Jensen." I nodded and held my hand through the bars to help him up. "What happened?"
"Apparently I became too close to Jensen's number one girl, you, so he threw me down here out of the way. He must be keeping you here until he..." He looked down at the floor. "Until he turns Caleb." The crash of a heavy metal door gripped our attention as the woman from earlier came strutting in.
"Bethany? Of course you're my replacement. You've been licking Jensen's ass since he turned you." Bethany smiled and kicked the bars. "Well at least I'm not in a cell perving on his 'mate'." She scoffed at him before chucking a small vial of blood into each of us.
"That's all you get today, milady." She sarcastically curtsied with a smile and skipped back over to the door, the guard following her, and pressed a phone to her ear. "Jensen, she's fed. No, she didn't speak to me... Yes, Elijah is still not going to apologise anytime soon... I'm coming now." Bethany hung up before slamming the door. The sound of the footsteps faded as they skipped down the hall.
"So I'm his mate now." I rolled my eyes and slid down onto the floor next to Elijah's cell. He made a small grunt. "He has an extreme sense of delusion. In the last few hundred years I think he's had four or five 'mates'." I couldn't help but smile. "You have the same way of explaining things as Caleb." A light blush came over his cheeks.
"But if I'm being honest, there was more to me following you than as a spy for Jensen. I think I'm in love with you as well." I paused, completely shocked. "But I think that Caleb is your true mate, and the sooner we can get you two back together and out of here safely then it will be better for us all."
The sweetness in his eyes was quickly shrouded by his pain as he walked around the cell before passing his blood ration through the iron bars. "You'll need your strength if you're going to escape." I reluctantly too the vial from him and downed it.
The other one quickly followed the first. It must have been a haemoglobin substitute to keep us weaker, the taste was far too metallic to be normal human blood. I winced at the taste.
"Feeling strong yet?" In response I jumped up from the floor and sprinted to the small door. The lock easily gave out under the strength of my push. I guess the haemoglobin fails to work if we have more than one dose. "I guess so."
