I Always Loved You

13. Prom.

On my school there wasn't a problem if you go to prom with somebody that wasn't from the school so i knew it was going to be okay that i was with Denis and Hailey was with Ben.

We started to walk from our apartment to my school holding hands as we always did. Then i felt Denis just looking at me.

'' Why are you staring at me?'' i laughed.

'' Sorry but you're just too beautiful.''

'' Thank you.'' i said kissing him on the cheek.

His reaction was priceless. He was the one always kissing or hugging me so he was shocked.

We got to my school and immediately i knew everybody was looking at me and i didn't like that at all. But i should've expected that. I started to feel realy uncomfortable.

'' Hey.'' Denis said looking at me.

'' It's fine. I'm here.'' he continued still holding my hand.

'' Do you need to get some air?''

'' No. I'm fine.'' i answered.

He knew how to make me feel better. God, i was so lucky to have him.

'' You're sure?''

'' Yes. Let's go.''

We entered the room and immediately recognized Hailey's green hair standing next to a person with messy hair which i recognized as Ben. So we walked up to them.

'' Hey Hailey. Hey Ben.'' i said.

'' Hey Alexis. Wow you're looking amazing.''

'' Thank you. You look amazing too.''

'' What's up?'' Denis asked Ben.

'' Good. We just got here.''

'' So how do you like Oregon?'' i asked.

'' I didn't have time to check it out but i will tomorrow.''

'' It's amazing here. You should come here more often.'' Denis said.

'' I will now that i have a good reason.'' Ben said looking at Hailey.

Hailey was loving it. I could see it on her face.

'' So, Alexis, you're Denis girlfriend?''

In that moment me and Denis just started to stare at each other.

'' You shouldn't ask them that. They don't even know.'' Hailey said.

'' Okay. Let's dance.'' Ben said.

'' Do you want to dance?'' Denis asked.

'' Of course.''

It was a slow song so we were just there slowly moving and looking at each other.

'' I'm sorry for earlier.'' Denis said breaking the silence.

'' Why are you apologizing?''

'' It made you uncomfortable. I want you to feel good tonight.''

'' But i am. Don't worry.'' i said resting my head on his shoulder.

Everything was fine until Hailey came running to me.

'' Alexis your mom is here.''

'' What? What is she doing here?''

'' I have no idea.''

'' I'll leave and let you talk to her.'' Denis said.

'' No. Stay with me. Please.''

'' If she'll see you with me again she'll go mad.''

'' I don't care. Please stay with me.''

'' Okay.''

Then my mom saw me and started to walk to me.

'' It's fine. I'm here.'' Denis said holding my hand tight.

'' Alexis? You look beautiful.'' my mom said looking at me.

'' Mom what are you doing here?''

'' I wanted to talk to you. But i had no idea where you went.''

'' And you thought this was a good moment?''

'' I know what i said wasn't okay but i'm really sorry and i miss you.''

'' Mom, it's fine. But the fact that you wanted me to stay away from Denis even if you didn't knew him really pissed me off.''

'' I know and i'm sorry. To both of you.''

'' It's okay.'' Denis said.

'' I just want her to be happy.'' he finished.

'' You're a good guy. I'm sorry i was mean to you.'' my mom said.

'' It's fine.'' Denis said.

'' Alexis you look absolutely stunning.''

'' Thanks mom.''

'' So where did you stay all this time? I feel so bad for not calling you i'm awful.''

'' You're not awful. And i stayed with Denis.''

'' Thank you for taking care of her.''

'' Mom, you know i'm not moving back.''

'' If that makes you happy sweetie. Just promise me you'll come back home sometimes.''

'' Of course mom. And thank you for understanding.''

'' Sure. I love you.''

'' I love you too mom.''

'' I'm gonna leave you two now. Take care of her.'' she said looking at Denis.

'' I will. I promise.''

I was happy i was okay with her now. I really was. And now i was going to officially live with Denis.

'' So what did happen?'' Hailey asked.

'' We're okay now.'' i smiled.

'' And you're gonna move back?''

'' No. I'm gonna stay with Denis.''

'' You're serious? My mom wouldn't ever let me do that.''

I smiled at the thought of living with Denis. Even if we had no idea what the fuck we were. It was complicated.

We enjoyed the rest of the night, dancing together and talking and having fun. Then we got back to our apartment. I was so happy i could call it that.
