Chapter 18

"I can't promise you that, (Y/N)."

Your (E/C) eyes widened. "W-what is that supposed to mean?" you asked in an irritated tone.

Meliodas smirked and gave you his signature smile. Before you could argue, something warm enveloped your whole body, trapping you in its grasp.

You were elevated higher up into the azure sky as the air began to feel less dense.

"W-woah!!" you yelped in reaction. "P-Put me...!!"

"What's going on?" a bitter voice exclaimed. You jumped and slowly looked behind you.

A pair of violaceous eyes glared at you with deep envy. U-uh oh....

"D-Diane! N-nothing! I was just angry at Meliodas! So I p-punished him..." you nervously explained, trying to hide your scarlet face.

Her nose scrunched up even more and angry wrinkles appeared between her purple eyes.

"I know what was happening! You were acting all lovey dovey with Captain!" she caviled.

You blushed even more and rested your arms on her giant hand. "I-It's not like that...he...uh.."

Diane tightened her grip on you, making you gasp for air. "(Y/N).." she muttered in anger.

"Diane! Stop that!" Meliodas yelled from below.

She peered down at him and squinted her eyes to shoot her mentally painful glare. Meliodas rubbed the back of his neck as a sweat drop occurred on his head.

"Yo, Diane, calm down. Captain will soon give love to you so chill," Ban said blankly.

Diane's expression calmed into a hopeful countenance.

"Are you sure?" she said.

Ban nodded and nudged Meliodas's side.

"Wow...thanks a lot..." he murmured.

You sighed as Diane lowered you onto Hawk's mom's back. "Thank you!" you said.

She leaned over and once again, brought her face up to yours. "I'm sorry, (Y/N), I overreacted," Diane apologized.

"U-uh..It's okay!" you kindly accepted.

Elizabeth went up to your side and rested her hand on your shoulder.

"Are you okay? I'm sorry that you were so scared, (Y/N)-chan! Diane gets into a whole new mood when it comes to people flirting with Meliodas," she said.

"B-But I wasn't flirting with that pervert!" you protested.

Elizabeth giggled," I know, (Y/N)-chan. Don't worry!"

You sighed in defeat and gazed towards the distance. The visibility of rooftops came into view. The arrival to Bernia was not too far away.

"Looks like we're almost there!" Elizabeth proclaimed. You nodded and smiled.

Hawk's mom quickly pounded her hooves against the dirt and buried herself in the ground.

Author's POV

(Y/N) and the sins took camp at the edge of the forest that was beside the town of Bernia. Meliodas hoped to attract some customers and raise some money to buy Ale. In the meantime, Ban cooked up his special recipes to feed their hungry customers.

You and Diane went deeper in the forest to pick some berries and mushrooms for tonight's dinner. Elizabeth was the woman who people to enter the Boar Hat. Meliodas, King, and Gowther went into town while Merlin helped Ban.

Your POV

You scurried through the tall trees and searched for occupied bushes. You also watched out for mushrooms, being careful to not take poisonous types.

"Diane, how many ingredients have you found?" you called, looking behind a big tree root.

A huge thud was heard as Diane stepped behind you. You peered up at her huge basket and gasped.

It was filled to the tip of its brim with different kinds of mushrooms and berries. Some of the berries were still stuck onto the bushes with roots sticking out.

"D-Diane! How did you find so many things in such little time?" you asked in awe.

"S-stupid thing!" she yelped. You frowned and walked over to the base of her foot.

"What did I-"

You were cut off from the crying yell of a....mushroom. An alive one!

Diane's huge fist constantly pounded its white head, making the body bounce like a yoga ball. The mushroom's face looked hurt and afraid.

"Diane stop! You're bruising it!" you yelled. She continued to injure it as the mushroom bounced at the rhythm of her punches.

"Damn it (Y/N)! This thing isn't safe! It's dan-"

Before Diane could finish, her voice faded away as pink smoke surrounded you. Everything went black.
