Flint suddenly jerked from his sleep, cold sweat beaded down his face. His mind soon adjusted to the reality before him, registering that he had merely dreamt yet another nightmare. His eyes soon corrected themselves, allowing the soft light of the campus lights to seep through his curtains.

"Calm down Flint, nothing's wrong." Flint said to himself, trying to calm his alert mind and rapid heartbeat.

Deciding it best, he pulled his wallet from his jacket. He withdrew the picture of his daughter, then stared at the picture. The method worked, his heart calming instantly and his mind focusing on his daughter's fragile face.

"Don't worry Emilia, I'm going to bring Mommy home soon." His eyes suddenly closed, the sleep returning to him.

He only awoke when his alarm blared.

---

Fling sat in Glynda Goodwitch's room once again, watching as two students sparred. One was an enormous male with a mace. The other way Jaune, with nothing but his sword and shield.

Jaune's aoura gauge had become red, indicating that he could be killed. Glynda Goodwitch had been distracted by a sudden movement in the crowd, and Flint knew what was going on. Cardin had become tired of Jaune, so he intended to take him out.

Personally.

Thanks to one of his teammates making a small ruckus, Cardin would be able to incapacitate Jaune with the next hit. An evil smirk spread across Cardin's face as he raised his mace, getting ready to deliver the final blow.

Within a second, Flint's semblance activated. He moved as fast as lightning, then blocked Cardin's mace with his hand. The impact of metal against skin made no difference to Flint, as his semblance surged his body with electrifying power.

The mace had barely been felt by Flint, And the next thing he did was out of pure instinct.

He focused the electric power into his palm, electrifying Cardin. Due to Cardin's mace being made of metal, the electric current flowed through the mace and into Cardin's body. Cardin screamed in pain, but his hands were frozen by the voltage.

Flint didn't smile, didn't withdraw his hand. All he did was stand there and glare at Cardin through a pair of red eyes. Flint blinked once, then twice. He quickly removed his hand which allowed Cardin to drop his mace and fall to the ground. Just a little more and Cardin would have been killed.

Flint nearly apologized until he had realzied what he had just done. He had electrifyied an opponent without meaning to, and that in itself was just a hint of his past. He looked down at his hand, terrified of his own touch. While on a journey to find his wife, it seemed that he was also on a journey to find himself. Ever since he had retired from being an assassin, his life had been peaceful. He hadn't been forced to use his semblance in quite a long time, so why had he used it on reaction?

Was he truly returning to his old self, the one that used his semblance without thinking about the consequences?

"G-Glynda..... I'm going to e-excuse myself f-for a bit......" Flint said, his eyes wide and staring at his palms.

"If you must, by the way.... Never mind." Glynda said but then excused him from the room.

Flint walked down the hall, the pass signed by Glynda hanging at his side. The right side of his body hung against the wall, using it as support. He still couldn't comprehend what he had done.

He suddenly noticed Jaune walking up behind him.

"Hey uh... Flint was it?" Jaune began.

"Y-yeah..." Flint responded. Flint was scared while speaking. Scared of what? He was scared of himself, scared that he had harmed another person without meaning to. He was afraid he would hurt Jaune.

"I uh... Oh geez, how do I say this without sounding awkward? I just wanted to say thanks for helping me." Jaune said, rubbing the back of his head.

"Y-yeah.... No problem." Flint had unconsciously taken a few steps from Jaune.

"Well uh..... I'm gonna go back now." Jaune said, turning around and returning to class.

Flint lingered in the halls, not sure of what to do. Should he go back? But then he would have to face what he had done.

The ringing of his communicating scroll answered his question for him.

"Flint. I heard about what happened." Ozpin's voice rang through the communicator."I must say, your skills have quite improved since you last graduated from my school. However, we have a situation."

"And just exactly what is the situation?" Flint asked, but he wasn't sure if he would go. Of course, if Ozpin had to resort to calling him while he was in disguise, something must be important.

"Cinder is at the outer wall."
