As Flint fought, memories flooded his mind. He knew what was going on, and yet he continued to assault Chronos. Soon, before he knew it, tears had begun forming. They clouded his vision and choked his breathing as he struggled to hold the sobs down.
And so he did what he always did whenever his emotions had gotten the better of him: he retreated to a safe distance, then pulled his wallet from his pocket.
__
Chronos stood, dumbfounded. He was staring at Flint, his blue eyes observing his opponent. Why? Why was he still standing!? No one was able to resist the flow of emotions form the memories he had invoked, so why did Flint not begin to ball!? What was so different about this target than his other targets!? Flint hadn't broken down when Chronos thought he would, but he was struggling against the emotions.
And then he saw Flint pull a picture from his wallet.
Chronos deducted that whatever the picture was of was the only reason Foint hadn't fallen to his emotions yet.
That picture needed to be eliminated if he was to complete his mission.
---
Flint quickly looked at his daughter's face, just reminiscing in the memories. Like before, his breathing calmed down and his eyes cleared up. He took a deep breath, renewing himself. He had forgotten what he was there for, forgotten that he wasn't just fighting for Cinder. He was also fighting for the happiness of his daughter. The picture was out for only a second, but Flint had to hurry. Looking at the picture would give Chronos an Advantage.
He wasn't fast enough.
The next second after his breathing calmed, the picture before him was sliced in half. Chronos had suddenly moved forward and, using the tip of his crescent moon staff, sliced the picture in half.
Flint's eyes were shocked at first, but then something within him awoke. A dormant instinct, a dormant personality that had been locked away. His eyes had been red earlier. Now, they were black. Earlier, the lighting bolts surrounding Flint was red. Now though, they were also black. Flint again landed a titanic punch to Chronos' face that sent him flying.
"You...." Flint's voice was suddenly a low, dangerous pitch. Chronos had been launched into the outer wall separating the city from the Grimm. The wall now had a hole in it, due to Flint's attack.
"Heh. Now I see why you hired me to kill him, Cinder." Chronos remarked as he stood from the rubble. Ironwood's soldiers were approaching, attempting to ensure that no Grimm entered the city. Flint heard Chronos mutter to himself, and it only made him angrier. The electricity appearing from Flint increased in size, making him look even more menacing.
"That's enough, Chronos." Said a female voice. Flint knew the voice well, and that in itself reflected in his eyes. His pupils shrunk upon hearing the voice, the seductive purr still in her voice.
"Cinder." The level of emotion in Flint's voice as he looked at his fiancé for the first time in years was unmeasurable.
That was before Cinder raised her hand and the Grimm charged forward.
