How did you discover Wattpad?

I discovered Wattpad through a Google search, looking for places that I could use to host my story.

How long have you had Wattpad, and how often do you use it?

I've had my Wattpad account since 11/17/14, but hadn't actually posted anything until 1/5/16, and wasn't active on the threads up until that point either. Now I'm a Wattpad addict (I don't think I've skipped a day since Jan 2016 haha).

Is there a meaning behind your username?

My username is actually a rather old thing I made up back in the stone age when I was in middle school. It started from my youtube account name - which later became my Soundcloud name. I kept it because I wanted to start making music videos and I figured it might be beneficial to keep a consistent name. So now, that is also my Wattpad name.

Why did you start writing? What age did you discover your love for it?

I started writing because I began dreaming up a story where scientists, for once, weren't the bad guys. I didn't really get into the whole writing spirit until that point, and that was a little over a year ago - so I was 26 at the time. I'm 28 now, and still working on this story.

Who are you favourite authors? What are your favourite books? (Books on Wattpad count too!) What is your favourite genre?

Currently my favorite genre is urban fantasy, favorite authors are Kevin Hearne and Jim Butcher, and favorite books are the Iron Druid Chronicles and the Dresden Files series. Of course this could all change by next month!

Do you want a career in writing?

If I could manage to pay the bills with my stories and music, I most definitely would choose that career path. As of right now it doesn't seem likely, so I'm still going down the path of the biomedical scientist. I suppose the upside of that is I have a solid foundation in life sciences upon which I can draw to lend my story some scientific credibility.

Who supports you the most in your writing?

I have three friends in real life who are reading my manuscript (I'm much further along in that than on Wattpad). They are my biggest supporters.

Choose one of your books:

What is your book called? What genre is it? What is it about (2/3 lines)?

My book is called "Project: Yggdrasil", and falls into the science fiction/ action adventure category.

Yggdrasil follows the adventures of Morrighan, a genetically engineered soldier, who embarks on a self-assigned investigation into the massacre on her home that robbed her of her friends and family. When she digs deeper, she discovers that the attack on her home was a linchpin in a much larger conspiracy. Upon this discovery, she is left with a choice - save herself or the rest of humanity.

What inspired you to write it?

I started writing my story because I was tired of seeing so many stories with the "evil scientist mastermind" who wants to either destroy the world or rule it through some twisted method. So, I started writing a story of my own where the scientists are the good guys, and the book sort of spiralled out from that initial seed of thought.

How often do you update? When was it last updated?

I do my best to update every Friday. As of writing this message, the last time my story was updated was 2/12/2016. Chapter 15 will be uploaded later today!

How long are your chapters? Do you think short or long chapters are better?

My chapters vary a bit in length because I like to break up my manuscript by where I feel there's a good "break" in the story, but tend to hover around the 1.5k word count mark. I don't really have a preference for long or short chapters - if the author needs 3000 words to get their point across, that's fine as long as it's well written and isn't just filled with fluff. If the author needs only 800 words to develop the next plot point, then that's fine too. Quality matters more to me than length.

Are you proud of how well your book has done? Are you happy with the amount of reads it has?

Hah, we all want more reads, right? For only being up on Wattpad for about 1.5 months, I feel that Project: Yggdrasil has done alright in terms of reads. But yes, I am proud of the story regardless of reads, and am thankful for everyone who's given it a chance.

Do you have any advice for new authors?

I'm not exactly a seasoned veteran of Wattpad, but what little advice I can give to new authors is to tell them: Be active (and friendly!) in the threads, and join as many book clubs as you can reasonably handle. Post your book in the "Share your story" thread.

Everything about this author's book impressed me. I liked the way it was written - it is very professionally written, flows well, and has a good plot. Her advice for new readers is very good, I agree that being active always helps to gain new readers. I really recommend her books, so check them out!
