Cheryl felt her knees get weak at this information. Tre wrapped his arms around her to steady her as she began swaying slightly, suddenly feeling like the room was spinning a bit as this shocking news overwhelmed her. Jason was out of prison? Her crazy, abusive ex-boyfriend was out of prison?
"How?" she managed to ask, her eyes fixated on Garry as she sat down on the sofa.
"Mam said the lawyer called her; Jason was released due to good behavior – apparently he's found God now and is a different person and has been good for the last two years so they let him out." Garry explained. Cheryl gave him a blank stare, drumming her fingers against her knee.
"So he's a changed man? We're all just gonna forget about how he treated me like shit?" she replied.
"Look, apparently he still can't come near any of the family – I mean literally none of the family; nobody associated with you. Does the label know about it or management or whatever?" Garry asked. Cheryl sighed, running her hands through her hair.
"The label was told when Girls Aloud were first signed, like all the lawyers and stuff, and then when I was with Shaw Thing they knew, and Modest knows now – they had to know just in case anything were to happen." She explained. Garry nodded before reaching over and squeezing her knee.
"It'll be okay, Chez; he can't hurt you or anything." He assured her. Cheryl nodded, biting her lip before looking up at Tre, who was stroking her waist in a comforting manner as he listened to her and Garry speak.
"Cheryl, it's okay to be scared you know – I can tell you are." He spoke up. Cheryl nodded, snuggling into his side.
"Do you think my nightmares were a sign?" she quietly asked.
Garry and Tre both looked over at her, neither of them having even thought of this. Now, they were both putting things together in their head. They wondered if this had been a sign all along – Cheryl's nightmares could have been possibly signaling that Jason was due to be released from prison soon, something that was Cheryl's biggest fear and that she hoped would never happen.
However, they also wondered if her nightmares were something else – some other reason...
Was Jason about to make an appearance in their lives anyway?
They couldn't allow themselves to think like this anyway. Garry and Tre's focus was on Cheryl; they had to keep her safe at all times. Tre, of course, was going to be extra protective of her after what she'd revealed to him upstairs, and really, he hoped she would open up to him some more. He had no idea how he was going to cope when he had to go back to LA in a couple weeks and be away from her – and he really had no idea how she was going to cope either. Hopefully they'd both be okay; and of course he'd be calling to check on her several times a day.
"Well, do you guys think so?" Cheryl asked again, looking at them both.
"It could have been, baby." Tre replied. Cheryl nodded, snuggling into him some more. Tre wrapped his arms around her more and kissed the top of her head, just wanting to do his best to keep her safe...
But he hoped that later, she would feel comfortable enough to open up to him, one step at a time...

Later on, after they'd all had something to eat, the three of them turned in for the night. Cheryl simply wore a pair of black hot pants and a matching black vest top, while Tre simply wore a pair of boxers. A bit earlier while they'd been downstairs, Cheryl had quietly mentioned to Tre that she wanted to talk to him about Jason, and Tre had of course given her a cuddle and told her he'd listen to her and help her as best he could.
