Over the course of the next week or so, Cheryl worked hard to mentor her two remaining acts to safety for the next week, which of course she successfully did as they'd safely sailed through to the next week. Cheryl was just glad to be back to work, and glad that things were returning to normal for the most part. Her house still had security surrounding it of course, but she'd braved it and let her security guards go on home to their own families now as Jason had seemingly just disappeared. She had even done an Instagram video post to address the story that Jason had sold, giving her side of the story, which her fans had obviously believed as Cheryl had always been honest with them about everything.
Tre was still in England as well, though he still had about a week until he had to go back to America. He was wary about leaving Cheryl, but he felt comforted by the fact that she had security around her and obviously she wasn't going to be in the house by herself. Though, Jason seemed to have completely disappeared – and everyone was starting to feel at ease again.
The security guard at X-Factor however, seemed to be more drawn to Cheryl than anyone else. Cheryl had thought his eyes were familiar at first, but shook it off and gave him her friendly smile anyway. The security guard would simply speak and keep it moving, and walk her and Tre out to the car at night to meet Lily and Garry. He seemed friendly enough, but Garry was wary of him – even though the others weren't.
Today, Tre was at home having some Skype meetings with his agent, leaving Cheryl to go to X-Factor on her own with just Lily and Garry. Once the three of them arrived there with Lee, they all went ahead inside. It was Friday, which meant dress rehearsal was today. It was also a bit more hectic because Cheryl not only had her acts to attend to, but she was performing at the weekend. It was her first performance since the whole ectopic pregnancy ordeal that she had fully recovered from, and it was also her first performance of her new single which was called I Don't Care. The trendy, uplifting pop ballad reflected Cheryl's new outlook on life about no longer caring what anyone thought or what they were saying about her. She was just being herself, and she felt comfortable with that.
"Alright, take five guys." Cheryl told her act, Lauren, who was singing with a live band. They had just finished rehearsing and now were taking a break. The band went off to the side to relax while Lauren and Cheryl headed off to the side of the stage and sat down, dangling their legs over the edge as they sat.
"Are you nervous then about the weekend? First performance back?" Lauren asked her mentor, nudging her arm. Cheryl rolled her eyes, running her hand through her hair.
"Please babe, I'm trying so hard not to think about it," she giggled before continuing, "No, but I am really excited about it."
"Well me and Lo are in your corner; you'll be fine – promise." Lauren reassured her. Cheryl smiled, nodding her head as she looped an arm around the younger girl's shoulders.
"Thanks Laur, seriously that means a lot," she giggled before continuing, "Anyways, I think – well if you and Lola feel comfortable – I'll send you guys home early tonight so I can get my head around this choreography. You two's last two sound checks and dress rehearsals have gone more smoothly than anything, so it all seems good to go."
"Hey, I certainly wouldn't complain, I need some sleep." Lauren giggled. Cheryl giggled as well before kissing her cheek. She then stood up, before helping Lauren to her feet.
"Come on, one more run through then we can finish." She told her. Lauren giggled, nodding her head before the two of them wandered over to finish up rehearsal...
Cheryl still completely unaware that the security guard was watching her from afar...
