DOC CAME BY a few hours later and took me to an empty room in the house where he had set up his portable MRI machine inside. It was huge and overbearing in the little room.
There was a hospital gown draped over a chair.
"I need you to change into that," he informed. He then turned his back to give me some privacy.
"Okay." I picked it up and took off my clothes leaving only my under garments on and slipping the gown over my body. It was nice and cool on my skin.
"Now what?" I asked, hopped on the bed.
"Lay down." He instructed, now turning to face me. "
He flipped the switch on and the machine began to hum to life and buzz. The sound was loud and it hurt me ears. I wondered how I had gone through it last time without freaking out. Of course, the last time I had been in the machine I had been unconscious.
I laid down like he had instructed and he moved the circular object over my head. He then flipped on a switch for the lights, blinding me. All I could see was bright lights now. Soon I heard the machine starting up. It was a very low humming sound that turned into a loud banging that equaled to the sound a dryer made when it had a shoe inside it. That was the only thing I could compare the sound to and I wanted out. The sound was deafening and uncomfortable. My eardrums felt like they were going to explode any second now.
"A-Are we done yet?" I weakly asked, feeling somehow claustrophobic now.
"Just a few more minutes and we'll have the image." He informed, his eyes steadily on the screen on the desk.
"One. Two. Three..." I silently counted to try to calm my nerves down. I could see my chest rising up and down rapidly below me. It was getting harder to breath. I gripped at the small layer of bedding underneath me and held on tight.
