THIS WEEK HAD had been rough and I was glad it was Friday. That meant I was one day closer to going home and seeing my mom. Life would go back to normal.
"Dad," I said walking into his studies. Yeah he had one, I thought it was funny.
"Yes?" he replied not bothering to look up from the blueprints he was looking over.
"So there's this party Tomorrow and I was wondering if I could go?"
"Whose party? And where?" He inquired.
"My friend Blake from school and it's at his house."
"And I'm assuming you want me to drive you into the city?" he asked looking up briefly.
"Yes," I nodded.
"And how will you get home?" He questioned.
Luckily I had already thought of it. Although, I hadn't asked or confirmed it with the said person yet.
"I will stay the night at Hermia's house, my best friend, who mom approves of, and then next day Brian will come by Hermia's and scoop me up there." I laid out the details of my plan.
He stopped and looked at me.
"Brian? And you discussed this with Brian already?"
"N-No...not exactly but he said he was going to be in the city this weekend," I informed.
"And you just assume he'll agree to this?" he questioned.
I hoped he would, but what happened yesterday made me think otherwise. He was still probably upset with me.
"I can hope," I said. "I mean it wouldn't be out of his way because he would be in the city already.."
"Mia," he shook his head in disapproval. "Don't use him."
"I'm not" I was equally appealed and offended.
"Yes, you are," he nodded. "You need to decide on what you want from him. Do you want him as yours or as a friend? You can't keep stringing him along or dragging out the inevitable."
There was that word again: stringing.
"Why do I have to decide? Why can't he just leave me alone?" I whined, irritated that I stomped back to my room and slammed the door shut.
I plopped onto my bed and buried my face in my pillow.
"Urgh!" I groaned, screaming in frustration and punching my pillow a few times before turning into my back and staring at the ceiling.
I had to fix this or at least try too. Brian was a nice guy and I guess I have been unfair to him...and his feelings. Maybe I should apologies and fix things before asking anything of him
