WE WERE GOING on a picnic today. He showed up with a basket in hand and a blanket draped over his arm. Dressed in a regular shirt and jeans, looking somewhat normal. He seemed to be on a good mood too.

"You ready?" He asked.

"Almost." I quickly tied my shoe laces and hopped up from the couch.

"How do you feel about making a quick stop and visiting a neighboring pack?" He then inquired.

"What pack?" My interest was peaked.

"Linwood pack, they're a very small group," he replied. "They're not too far from here."

I nodded. "Okay."

Once we were on the road, i turned down the radio so I didn't have to yell over the noise. I wanted to know more about the Linwood pack. Wanted to know why we were paying them a visit.

"Where do the Linwood pack live?" I wondered. "Why don't they live with your pack?"

"Not too far." He answered and added. "because they don't like me enough to stay in Boise."

"What do you mean?" This wasn't exactly shocking to hear but i wanted to know.

"I am Alpha because I killed their Alpha, my dad." He summed it up real nice.

"Oh..." I said remembering.

"They left and created their own pack and I didn't care enough to stop them." He added.

"So then, why are we going?"

"The appointed alpha there, wanted me to drop by and help with an issue." He replied.

"With what issue?" I pressed.

"Why so curious?" He countered turning to look at me, a grin plastered on his face. "Didn't take you for someone who would be concerned with pack business."

"I guess I'm just naturally curious...like a cat," I said with a shrug. "This is the first pack I've been told about that exists here."

"I'm being summoned to oversee a fight." He finally allowed me to know.

"What?!" I was appalled. "Why?"

"Lovers quarrel." He shrugged.

"And someone has to fight because of it?"

"I guess." He chuckled.

"It's not funny." I told him.

"On the contrary, it is in fact very funny." He smiled.

I shook my head at him and ceased conversation about what I was going to witness once we got there.

We drove up the mountain side through fog and mist, towards our destination. Melted snow flowed into the readily formed puddles of water near the side of the road, which splashed and spilled out when cars passed over them.
