Chapter 23- Two-sided

[Shane P.O.V]

They say that there are two sides to every story. That you can’t just judge someone right away because maybe they are different from how they seem…

But Mike?!?!

He’s the guy that f**ked up everything in the past two weeks. He’s the one that was a huge part of Lisa’s plan but STILL wanted to continue with it even when she was done. He’s the one that made out with MY boyfriend. He’s the one that caused so much fighting.

 Was it so wrong to judge him from those facts?

But then…he’s the one that paid for my mother’s medical bill…

The pieces just didn’t line up…

I stood outside Joey's bedroom as confused as ever. Maybe he changed? No...

I walk back into the bed a lie down.

“Shane…”

“Yes, Joey?”

“Who just called on the phone?”

“Um…remember how the doctor said that someone paid for my mom’s hospital bill…”

“Yes. Did he find out who it was?”

“Mmm-hmm…”

“Who? I want to know!”

“Mike.”

“Wait what? You’re kidding right?”

“Nope.”

“Wow…that’s got to be a mistake…”

“That’s what I thought but nope…the doctor said it was Mike.”

“But…why? Why would he do that? Why would he be trying to help you?”

“Probably trying to get on our good side. But let's not worry about it and just go to sleep. ”

“Probably. Okay, goodnight.”

“Night.”

I wake up to the sun glaring in my eyes. The sun was blinding me. 

“Ugh what time is it??”

Joey wasn’t there.

Where the heck was he? It was only 8 in the morning…

Oh shit.

Shane,

Good morning! I’ll be home soon! I needed to go take care of something 

-Joey <3

Oh no. No. No. No!!!

Was he going to go talk to Mike?

[Lisa P.O.V]

I hear a knock on my door. Well…

Ugh. I just couldn’t believe it.

My door. I wish I could just say our door again…

But I needed to give Shane space.

He obviously loves Joey…

But.

Wait.

Why was I settling for this?...

I felt my head start to pound as I went for the door.

Maybe I shouldn’t have drank so much last night…

“Hello Lisa.”

“Hi…Joey?... Come in…”

“Thanks. I just wanted to apologize for uh…, being cold to you the past few days…”

“…”

“Yeah I know I shouldn’t have been but I just…thought you hated me for some reason. Like you were mad about me for-”

I couldn’t take anymore pounding.

“For what? Taking Shane away from me? Do you really f**king think I’m over that?!”

“Well no…but someday you will be. Look I’m just trying to say that I’m glad you’re not actually jealous-”

“JEALOUS?” I start to laugh. “Wow, you really think you’re the SHIT Joey. That you’re perfect. Well guess what. You’re not. Nobody is so stop acting like you’re the best thing that ever walked the face of the earth because you took MY Shane from ME!”

“ I didn't mean it like that...and I- I thought we were on the same page here…Lisa?”

I breathe heavily back and forth. I wasn’t hearing anything. Just seeing Joey standing there looking confused. Then he starts to speak again.

“I’m sorry Lisa… I’ll leave now if you need time…”

“Time for what? To heal. I’ve tried that! Why else do you think I made this plan! It’s been going on ever since you started hanging out with my Shane. You ruined everything Joey. Ruined my entire life. You made these last two weeks, or even four months a living hell!”

“I’m- sor-...”

“No you’re not. If you really were sorry you wouldn’t have STOLE him away from me. You worthless piece of SHIT”

Tears start to flow from his eyes. What the heck did I just do…?

Oh my gosh. I couldn’t believe what I just said.

“Look I’m sorry Joey…I shouldn’t have yelled at you like that. It’s just been you know…hard.”

He wipes his tears and walks right up to me with anger in is eyes.

“You know what. Yes. It’s been extremely hard these past few weeks. With your plan to ruin what Shane and I have...So thanks for that. I knew you didn’t change. I knew it…but Shane thought you could. He believed with all his heart that you could be friends with us. So forget what I said. I guess you’re just out to get me as well…”

“No…Joey. Seriously don’t.”

“I’m leaving. Thanks for saving me the time. Bye Lisa…”

“JOEY STOP!” 

He slams the door and walks outside.

Shit.

I knew I shouldn’t have drank to much last night…

It only makes thing worse...
