Chapter 32- Wrong turn

[Joey P.O.V]

I felt my heart pounding in my chest.

The wind was pushing me back but I kept fighting.

I didn’t know where my feet were taking me but I knew I needed to keep running.

I left him there.

I fought the thoughts away again as I pushed past branches in my way.

I needed to stop thinking.

And just run.

The sound of the air was fierce as I tripped over a large object in my way.

Darkness.

[Shane P.O.V]

I know that talking on your phone while driving wasn’t safe.

And, I usually never even had the courage to do it.

But in this case, it was an emergency.

When I got into the parking lot I sprinted to the door.

Closed.

F**k!

I turned around and I saw Rachel holding a pair of keys.

She was the girl who sold me the ring.

“Hi…you need help with anything?”

“Yeah.”

“Okay well the shop closes at eight and,” she looks at her watch. “It’s eight fifteen.”

“Yeah I know that. I tried calling your cellphone…but that doesn't matter anymore... I need you to cancel.”

“Cancel what? The order?”

I nod my head hesitantly.

She probably thought I was crazy. Just a few nights ago I was telling Rachel all about how much I loved him and how I knew this was right.

But I guess I was wrong.

“Look…I’m booking a flight to California for tomorrow morning and I need you to cancel it.”

“I’m sorry Shane but I’m afraid I can’t do that. You see…”

“Please. I’ll do anything.”

“The ring is already on fast service, like you ordered so…it’s already almost done.”

I sigh. “Then what am I going to do?”

“I can just ship the ring to your house in California.”

“No…you don’t understand.”

“I guess not…” She replies.

“You see…I made a mistake. I huge mistake. The guy…well his name’s Joey and…I keep screwing things up. I keep taking someone else’s side who, is my ex girlfriends…and I know I screwed up with this. I really thought I could make things work but I can’t take seeing him disappointed in me anylonger… I-”

I look up and she was gone.

Gone like the wind.

I look around for her and she’s nowhere in sight.

[Joey P.O.V]

I look up at a bright light right above my head. I lift up my head and hear voices from another room.
