Chapter 27- Just Give Me Your Heart

[Shane P.O.V]

Hand and hand we walk to get a taxi.

I felt whole with Joey holding on to my hand.

He was right, we needed to show the word how amazing we were.

And those who hated it…screw them.

I loved him.

I was sure.

Everything about him.

Joey waves his hands to get taxi.

“Wow you’re skilled at that.”

He laughs,” Yeah I use to take a taxi all the time in Boston.”

“Lazy.”

“Shhhh.”

We get inside of the taxi car and I grab onto his hand.

The driver uses his mirror to see if we buckled, I guess because if we didn’t he’d get fired.

But instead of starting to drive and just smiles.

“Everything okay, sir?” Joey asks.

“Yeah. Perfect. My son…he came out and at first…I just wasn’t accepting of him but you could tell how happy he was with his boyfriend. Just like you two are.”

“Oh...thank you.” I say.

“No thank you. I just wish I’d been more accepting of him earlier. Love. It’s such a beautiful thing. Rare. Yet beautiful. I wish more people took note of that.”

“Yeah.” I say

“Anyway where to?”

He was right.

Love was beautiful.

Rare.

Why did people have to judge you base on if you were gay, straight, bisexual. It was all the same.

When we get to my mom’s I give the man 40 dollars and smile at him.

“Thank you sir.”

“You’re welcome. Don’t ever be afraid to be yourself.”

I open the door with the key under the doormat.

“Can I have some water?”

“Yeah of course.”

I go into the refrigerator and grab him a water bottle.

“Shane…what that guy said in the taxi…he was right.”

“I know. It’s good to know that people actually could respect us.”

“I want to tell my parents.”

“I know.”

“Oh hold on my sister is calling.”

Perfect. I run into the computer room and look online.

I take out my credit card and type in what I need to. They were bought. He was going to be so happy.

“Hey Shane! Sorry she was just asking how I was.”

I hold up the tickets that were just printed and I see his warm big smile. The one I loved so much.

“Shane?! Are you serious?”
