Chapter 17

"The name is Jean Scarlett Roger, dear brother," I smirked, folding my hands across my chest.

"I know that!" he scowled. "Are you satisfied now? You turned my face purple!"

"Another hit could do actually," I narrowed my eyes.

"Jean! Are you up there?" I heard my mom call out and the door slammed open.

She caught us in action and saw his face all purple and his nose bloody.

"Chase! What happened to you?" she practically screamed.

"Oh nothing, mom, I barged into the door, that's all."

"Are you sure?" she looked at me and him alternatively.

"Yeah!"

So, he is covering for me now? I am not giving him any sympathy and am gonna talk to him! Not ever!

"No, he's lying," I stepped forth.

"Jean..." he gave me the look but I didn't care.

"I did that to him," I accepted it casually.

"What?" she yelled. "You do realise how serious this is, right?"

"Oh please mom, enough with the lecture," I rolled my eyes and walked out of the room.

"Jean, get back here this instant!" she yelled but I cared less.

"Let her go mom, I will deal with her myself. Anyway, I deserved this," he sighed, patting his nose lightly.

"Well, if you say so. But let's get you cleaned up first," she tugged him by his shoulder.

I stormed out of the house, still in the horrid huge sweat shirt and black shorts, the messy hair even more messier by the minute and some rugged old converse. I snatched my car keys on the way and drove off.

Chase, my elder brother, who was now 19, went away to some place unknown saying that he had to study. He left me right at the moment when my life was crumbling down to pieces. He left me there, knowing that I was emotionally crushed over Blake. The one person in my life whom I thought will be by my side forever, left me when I faced the worst. I begged him to stay but my pleas faded away in thin air for him.

He had to study, that I knew and could deal with. But none of us knew where he went or what he was doing. He never called us in one and a half years nor has he visited.

I cried over the fact that he left me when I was a mess, Ian was in jail causing the mess and Blake utterly unaware of who I was anymore.

Chase didn't even know that we were moving and doesn't know what I am going through right now. For him, I was always the kick ass sister who always loved fun and was mischievous. He doesn't have a clue about what I have become and I don't even wanna tell him. Ian knows that he left me and Meg and Arch don't even know that he exists. His leave, at the time I needed him the most just crumbled me more from who I was.

My hands involuntarily reached my phone after pulling over at a near by park near Meg's house. I quickly dialled to Ian and in almost one ring, I could hear his deep husky voice.

"Hello?"

"Ian?" My voice cracked.

"Scarlett?" I could hear the concern in his voice, "what happened?"

"I stormed out of the house."

"Again?!" he yelled and took in a deep breath, "where are you now?"
