Chapter 23
Jean's POV:
Chase was leaving today to god-knows-where place and I can't do anything! I'm here, stuck in this godforsaken school, unable to do anything! I don't want him to leave but he never listens! All this time, the information I could pull out from him was, he was in a university which privately recruited him on a research project. Just coz it is confidential, he didn't tell us anything about his stay.
"Stay, please!" I gave my best puppy dog face to Chase but he simply shrugged it off.
There is just an hour more for his departure and I feel like dying. Why couldn't he atleast stay a little longer?
"Please?" I used my all time record puppy face.
"Don't. Give. Me. That. Look." he said, his eyes narrowed.
"Mom! Dad!" I screamed in top of my lungs, "Chase hates me!"
"Shut up, kid!" he hissed, rubbing his ears.
"He hates me even more!" I whined.
"Come on, Chase, be nice to her!" mom said sternly.
"She's being such a girl!" he shuddered.
"That's coz I am one!" I stomped my foot hard.
"What do you want me to do then?" he yelled.
"Stay!" I yelled louder.
"I cannot do that!" he screamed.
"Why not?" I screamed louder.
"Enough!" mom shouted and we fell silent. None of us looked at mom, but instead, we glared at each other.
"This is the first time I have seen two silblings fight out of love," dad smiled, shrugging.
"And now, I hate him," I tsked and turned away, back to my room.
Two arms instantly were wrapped around my torso and I was pulled into a tight hug. I squirmed in his grip, but he refused to let go. What's up with boys and tight hugs? I stayed quiet until he decided to let go off me. He released me, planting a gentle kiss on top of my head.
"I love you, Jean. Don't keep saying such mean things to me," he pouted like a little girl.
"Then why do you keep leaving me?" I asked in turn.
"It's about time you learn to be independent and make mistakes. I will be watching you all the time and yeah, Ian will be there for you!" he beamed.
"Ian ain't my brother!" I whined.
"Well, good to know that," I heard his voice and turned to see Ian, Arch and Meg come inside.
"Hey bud," Chase gave Ian a bro hug and the others a nod.
"What's up with me not being your brother?" Ian asked.
"You will look after my sister, right?"
"Yeah, of course I will! Why do you ask?" he frowned.
"Chase! Ian and you and two different yet important people in my life and I need you both! No one can replace each other!" I sighed, "I'll ask you one more time Chase, will you stay back?"
"I'm sorry darling, you know my answer," he kissed my cheek.
I sighed. I knew that he was never gonna change his mind. He is dead set on the things he wants and no one can change that. He is a genius and his college needs him. Well, I could forgo another three years without him. That's what I think.
