Chapter 29

Basketball practice sessions were called out once more the next day and the coach seemed to go a little easy on us. Only half an hour of exercise and then we got down into game practice.

"Hey there, would you like to practice with me?" a guy stood before me. Curly blonde hair, nicely built, grey eyes, thin lips, I had to accept, he was good looking but Ian was still better.

Okay, why the hell am I comparing him with Ian?

"Okay, we'll do passes?" I frowned, internally scolding myself.

"As you wish, sweetheart," he smirked.

Sweetheart? Ugh!

"It's Jean," I said, "my name, it's Jean Scarlett Roger, not sweetheart or any other stupid nickname for that matter."

I'm sure he never experienced this kind of answer coz he stood there baffled, watching me go.

"Alright," he composed himself, walking up to me, "Jean. You sure you can handle passes with me?"

"Try me," I smirked.

"Hey, Scarlett!" Ian hollered, "Nate! Over here!"

Guess Ian can never stop coming in between things.

"What?" I shoved the ball to his chest.

"He's Nate, the captain," Ian introduced, "guess you already met him. And Nate, she's Jean, the state player everyone was talking about."

"It's you?" his face was filled with shock.

"Yeah," I shrugged, "why'd you call me here, Felix?"

"Where is your team?" he demanded.

I shrugged, "I'm not the captain here anymore, dude! And I don't care about them."

"Jane," he abruptly called when she was shooting a hoop and she faltered, missing the shot. But inspite of that, she smiled seductively and walked to us, making me want to disfigure her face.

"Yes, Ian?" she smirked at me; standing too close to him for my liking.

That bitch!

"Nate," I held his hand, pulling him so close that my body squished against his, "let's not waste our time here and do some passes."

Ian flinched and Jane scrunched her nose in disgust.

Score!

Nate grinned ear to ear. Guess he was the only one enjoying the situation to the core unlike us! I glared at Ian, silently scolding him for calling Jane here and walked away.

"Looks like someone's got issues," Nate smirked.

"Look dude, I'm seriously pissed now and need some real bad relieving. So you better keep up with me," I shoved the ball to his chest.

"Aye, aye, captain!" he mock salute and we took on a sprint, passing the ball to each other.

This guy looked like a flirt, but he knew his game. I have never seen any other guy keep up with me like this before! I mean, only the guys who knew me well and played against me only could gauge my passes. This guy was freaking incredible! We made many laps, until someone decided to stand in my way and collide with me.

I managed my fall and rolled over like a ninja whereas the girl who barged into me got knocked out.

"Ohmigawd! Did you see that? Poor, June!" the whole girl's team came over.

Why is it that they always travelled in packs?

April, June's twin helped her out on the bleachers and the rest looked at me nervously.
