Chapter 22
Ian's POV:
The dance last night turned real awkward. One minute I was teasing her and the other, I was gonna kiss her! In the public! In a dance! God! She looked absolutely stunning! Thank my sense of humour for saving the day or else things would've been a wreck! Just coz she kissed me back when she was drunk doesn't mean I can go kissing her whenever I want! And on top of it, she was drunk and why would she do that? She doesn't even remember the kiss!
School now is a real bad place to be in. Coz one, I went out and got drunk last night after Scarlett stormed away from me and second, Ray Cunningham.
Who in their right mind would ever think that Ray would be in the Roger's dance?
He was acting all high and mighty and even wanted time alone with Scarlett! Oh, how much I wanted to punch his face! Now nobody knows if he will pull out Scarlett's secret to everyone. She will be doomed, considering how serious she is about keeping this a secret.
I was in the parking lot, not feeling like to go inside the school. And all of a sudden I heard a high pitched, girly squeal which blew the living daylights out of me.
"Ohmigawd! Ian!" Kate ran to me. And when do the minions not follow?
I looked at her, acknowledging that I heard her war cry.
"You are like, so handsome today!" she giggled and tugged at my sleeve.
"Thanks," I mumbled, looking at her hand on my sleeve.
I wondered how long she was gonna tug me that way. If I really had to admit the truth, I looked like a starving, homeless person. Half of my face was covered with huge black circles and my eyes went hollow. My hair was super messy, which didn't give even a slightest appeal and my face was pale.
Now, the question arises. Is Kate blind?
"So, what are you doing here all alone?" her hand moved up to my shoulder.
"Nothing."
"Wanna come out on a walk? There is a lot of time for the classes to start," she batted her eyelashes.
"Kate, I-" I began and a honda drifted to a stop in a familiar spot. And there came out the most dreaded person for today.
Scarlett.
She slammed her door hard that everyone noticed and slung her bag on her shoulder. She clicked close her car and stormed forward. All the eyes in the parking lot were on her and she came to a halt, her eyes directly meeting mine.
And she looked furious.
Very furious.
She walked up to me with a terrifying aura and I knew that I had it bad. And to top it off, Kate and all her minions were right around me, with Kate's hand rubbing mine.
"Felix," she looked right in the eye and I couldn't help but gulp.
I shrugged off Kate's hand from my shoulder and took a step forth. Something was different in her. She was wearing skinny jeans and a loose shirt and her hair wasn't in it's usual pigeon's nest form. It was the silky straight ones, the ones I used to know. She loosely braided it; a feeble attempt on making it messy and her eyes were slightly red and puffy. Was she crying?
"Hey-" Kate narrowed her eyes, "nerd. Looks like someone was crying. Didn't you get to read a book last night?"
She clenched her fists, her jaw tightening. I could forsee her hitting Kate, but she let out a deep breath instead. On instinct, I went and hugged her tight. I don't know why, but her eyes pleaded me to do that. She felt so vunerable under my touch, her hands limp to her sides and her body weak. This is exactly what I never wanted to see again in her.
