Chapter 7
Ian stood on his knees in front of me as tears flooded down my cheeks. He pulled me into a hug and whispered, "don't cry."
I pulled back from him almost immediately, wiping away my tears and glaring at him. I am never gonna let him see me cry.
"I am not!" I shot up my chin, "but I do have a question to which I need you answer honestly."
He nodded.
"Why did you beat Blake?"
"As I said, he deserves that."
"I said honestly Ian."
He took in a deep breath looking away from me.
"Answer me Ian," I spoke sternly.
"He- He was cheating on you Scarlett. With five other girls."
"What?" I yelled standing up.
This can't be happening. Maybe Ian is lying to me. Blake can't be cheating on me! And that too not with five girls!
"Ian you are-"
"Im not lying Scarlett," he cut me off abruptly. "That day after our argument I went to do some extra investigation on Blake and found about them. I wanted to talk to him about all of these and he..." I could see that he was very angry considering his balled fists and the vein popping out on his forehead. "- bad mouthed you. I was already drunk after knowing about him cheating on you and on top of that when he said stuff about you I just couldn't handle myself anymore," he admitted.
"Why did you beat him Ian? You could have told me."
"You wouldn't listen to me at that time. And anyway, the way he spoke about you just made me explode. You are and will always be my best friend. I just need you to come back to me," he looked away, "so, are we good?"
He is being utterly honest with me. Oh for heaven sake, he beat the shit out of the guy just coz he bad mouthed me and even went to jail. If I don't get back with him, I will not even be called a human!
"Oh come on Jean! Tell that you guys are good now!" Megan whined behind me.
"Yeah!" Arch seconded.
"Yes," I nodded smiling.
"Oh yeah!" he scooped me up from the chair and lift me up in his arms, twirling me around as we laughed together.
Our little happiness twirl dance finished and we walked out of the class with huge grins on our faces.
"Hey look! The tough act nerd is back!" a guy hollered.
Ian glared at him with his fists balled and I gave him a warning look. Not really caring about their stupid looks and murmurs I started walking out from there.
"Why are you letting this happen to you?" Ian gritted his teeth.
"This is who I am here Ian."
"Why do you have to be something that you are not?"
"For my own good."
He looked at Megan and Arch for some sort of explanation.
"No big boy, she hasn't told us either," Meg shook her head.
"Scarlett..." he dragged.
"What?"
"Tell me."
"No!"
"Fine, suit yourself," he abruptly turned away and barged into someone pushing them to the floor too.
"Oh my god! Are you alright?" I rushed to them.
