Chapter 19
School is the worst when, you reach late to school, have a fun time listening to yourself get insulted, run into your crush and stutter like an idiot and finally, get detention!
I know what you all must be wondering. How the hell did she get a detention?
By now you all know that I face these little fun things (please note the sarcasm), very commonly in my life. Except detention.
But in reality, before the nerd thing showed up in me, I basically spent half of my life recieving detention. Infact, I was known for my badass ways and was often pulled into detention. Believe me, 75% of the time I never really meant to do those bad things to kids. It just happened! Like, naturally!
Well, as usual, we were in our chemistry lab, doing some random experiment which the teacher gave us with Ian as my lab partner. Of course, originally he wasn't. I had some real time nerd with me as my partner but Ian scared him off big time and made him switch partners and well, you know what happened after that.
"I will never forgive you if I get less than an A, Roger!" were the nerd's last words to me.
Oh, the poor thing! He was stuck with some Kate's minions who was extremely dumb and knew nothing about chemistry. She was like an illiterate person stuck in a library for eternity. You probably get what I mean.
So, the class was all busy and Megan seemed oddly quiet. She didn't speak to me the whole day, kept a moody face and didn't even show up at lunch.
I would guess the reason for her extreme behaviour were, either she was in her period or she was still pissed off about the fact that I didn't tell her that I had a brother.
Or it could be both!
Who can guess girls these days?
"What happened?" I passed a chit to her through a few people.
She saw the chit and looked back at me. "Nothing," she mouthed.
Well, I didn't believe her though. Her eyes were lying to me. And hence, I ended up writing another chit.
"What are you doing?" Ian asked, playing with a salt nearby.
"Nothing," I dismissed him with a wave and my hand hit his forehead.
"Aww!!!" he groaned and lost balance on his chair and he stumbled back, causing the other girl to freak out and knock the alcoholic potassium hydroxide on the table. Terribly freaked out, she clumsily began wiping it off and I joined her. Unknowingly I hit the bunsen burner and the alcohol caught flames on the table.
"Oh shit!" Ian poured a flask full of
inflammable liquid and the flames rose higher. Smoke filled the room and everyone evacuated the room.
The next thing I noticed was, we were covered in a white foamy substance overselves and all around us. Ian and I looked at each other blankly as all the flames before us died down and Megan stood in front of us.
With a fire extinguisher.
Aimed at us.
"Great!" I sighed wiping my face.
"Jean Roger! Ian Felix! Detention for a month!" the teacher yelled.
And so here I am, in the detention class with Ian by my side.
"Ah, the memories in this room!" Ian said dreamily and I rolled my eyes. So much for him being a genius about stopping the flames! "Aren't you enjoying the atmosphere?" he continued.
