Chapter 24
I woke up to the sound of my cell phone blowing up and my dad repeatedly calling my name.
"Argh! I'm awake dad!" I shouted and picked up my phone and snapped, "what?"
"Easy there tiger!" I heard Ian's voice on the other side of the line.
"Ian, it is just 5:30 in the morning and you better have a good excuse for waking me up or else I'll personally chop your head off your neck," I growled.
"Get to the door," he simply said.
"What?"
"Oh, forget it," he sighed and my door opened with him walking in.
"Ian! Why are you in here so early?" I asked groggily.
"No time to waste," he went into my closet and came out with my tracks and a pair of running shoes. "Go, brush your teeth and get out, we are going out for a run."
"You've gotta be kidding me," I said but his serious face didn't budge, "you know that I hate you, right?"
"Oh yeah, I've been told that many times," he gave a quick smile and pulled me outta my queen sized bed and the most comfortable duvets, "go now," he ordered.
I got ready in just 5 minutes and came out, sleep still visible on my face. We were down and out of the house and stood in front of our driveway. It was cold for a morning and I hugged myself, my bed feeling like a paradise every passing minute.
"Why are we here again?" I asked yawning.
"Feeling sleepy?" he asked.
"Well, duh!" I rolled my eyes.
"You won't anymore," he smirked, "we are officially starting our basketball training from today and for the bonus as the first day, you are gonna make 50 laps across your street."
And as promised, my sleep flew right out of the window.
"Fifty laps?" I opened my mouth wide, gaping at him.
"Well, duh!" he mimicked me, rolling his eyes.
"You've gotta be crazy!" I yelled, "and who the hell said that I was gonna play basketball anymore?"
"Well, I said. And you are doing it," he crossed his arms.
"No," I crossed my arms as well, trying hard not to get intimidated by him.
But well, his 6'2 height won over my 5'7.
"I don't want to!" I whined.
"Okay, kids!" dad sang, "why don't we do this? You think of this as a regular morning routine to keep you fit! How does that sound?"
"Deal," he smirked.
"Argh!" I stomped my foot, "well, here goes nothing. Deal!"
---
I still regret saying deal to the guys. They made me do 50 laps, 50 crunches, 20 toe touches and a half hour of skipping. By the time we were done, Ian and I were lying flat on the grass in our back garden, as the sun shone with no mercy on us. I groaned as my body didn't co-operate with me in getting up.
"Okay kids! Breakfast is ready!" mom chirped.
"Alice made the breakfast?" Ian exclaimed, horror evident in his eyes.
"Is it even edible?" I asked.
"I heard that!" mom yelled from inside.
"She has big ears," I whispered.
