Chapter 20

Gala dance...

Gala dance...

Gala dance...

Mom and I have been brooding over this since yesterday when my dad decided on taking us along.

Mom and I have absolute zero tolerance for dresses. She couldn't walk straight in any of them. Well, this has been it from when she was a little kid and guess this dislike passed on to me as well.

It is just that I never liked wearing them, that's all. I could handle myself in them but it is just because of the dislike, I keep them away.

Chase was perfect in this case. He went boasting in his awesome body with those suits. He could pull off anything with ease. Heck, he even pulled it off in plain boxers! Not that I am ever gonna admit it! He would never let me live with that.

Mom sat in the corner sulking about the dress that she was gonna wear and dad already bought her a dress. Afterall, these many years of practice made her walk just fine but she had a little phobia left in her.

I was sneaking up at mom and dad when I felt a hand grab my shoulder. I shrieked and jumped in fear.

"Howdy, baby sis!" Chase grinned.

"Curse you, Chase!" I patted my own back.

"Sneaking up on your own parents?" he covered his mouth with his hand dramatically, "not good, baby sis!"

"I was checking if she was having any panic attacks or so," I sighed, annoyed by him.

"And what about you? Are you facing any?"

"Not really. I'm just not interested, that's all."

"What about a dress? The gala starts in about 2 hours!"

"Well, I don't have any. Surprise!" I said in a monotone.

He smirked.

Nope, not good at all!

"I have a little gift for you. Hope you like it," he tugged me to my room.

There was a dress placed right in the middle of the bed. It was a strapless, dark purple coloured dress which had a belt sort of thing near the waist.

"Go on, try it. May as well like it!" he cheered.

I gave him an incredulous look and changed into it. When I came out, I was really pissed off.

"Whoa, now that's what I am talking about!" he wiggled his eyebrows.

"What the hell were you thinking when you bought this?" I roared when I revealed the cut which started from above my thigh and flowed through the entire dress on the left side.

"Oh that? Sexy, isn't it?"

"Chase..."

"I just figured that you had some real fine legs to show off, that's all," he shrugged.

Right, your own brother thinks that you have real fine legs to show off! How creepy is that?

The bodice was wrapped around my body as if it was specially made for me and the colour made my skin stand out. The belt was white and just perfect with the dress and the bottom was all flowy and beautiful except for the cut.

I sighed loudly and he grinned, "C'mon, Jean! You can live with it! You have handled worse dresses than these!"

"I know, Chase! But I am the nerd here! Nerds don't wear these!" I showed off the cut.
