Chapter 12: What Now?

(Femke’s P.O.V)

I walked down the hall with my books clutched against my chest. Another day at hell.

“Hey dwarf!” Angelica yelled from her group who were standing at the end of the hall. All of them giggled as they looked at me. I rolled my eyes and groaned.

“I’m 5.7 you elf” I snapped as I entered my class. Everyone started oooing the moment I said this. Guess a less amount of people burn Angelica here.

As I entered the class, I scanned around the room but I couldn’t spot Sonia anywhere. I walked over to my seat and flopped my bag on it, still looking around but I couldn’t see a sign of Sonia.

“Hey Femke!” I heard a girl greet. I looked up and saw Mina grinning at me.

“Hey” I smiled at her. She flopped her bag on the chair next to me and sat down.

“Looking for someone?” she asked. I nodded.

“Sonia”

“Oh, she didn’t come today I guess” mina replied, biting her lip. I furrowed my eyes together as I looked at her tensed face.

“Why? What happened?” I asked. She looked at me, frowned and sighed as she spoke up.

“She and Ryan had a huge fight yesterday. It kind of escalated to such an extent that he yelled at her and said it’s over. He even threatened her to never show her face to him or any of his friends and not even go near them” she explained as she sighed and sat back, “One of the reasons I hate their group” she ended.

“I know right. Such arrogance and so much care for their ‘reputation’ rather than their own girlfriends” I gasped as I sat back and stared at nothing but my hands. Why did people have to be so cruel and selfish these days?

I was snapped out of my thoughts as the teacher came in and everyone greeted her. In no time all of the books were out on the tables and the lecture had started.

The whole day passed at a snail’s pace. I was dying for it to be over.

Then the bell rang.

Finally.

I quickly gathered my things and stormed out of the class and out of the hallway.

“Femke! Hey, wait! Where are you going?” Mina yelled from behind me as she followed me.

“Sonias’ place” I replied.

“I’m coming with you” she said as we ran off to Sonias’ house.

“I hope she’s alright” I wished. Mina nodded in response.

After five minutes we were outside Sonias’ house. I rang the bell and her mother opened it.

“Oh! Femke, hello dear! And Mina! Nice to see you again! Sonia’s up in her room. Please get her to come outside. I have no idea why but she has been stuck inside her room ever since the morning.

“Yes Mrs. Twardoski, we’ll take care of it” I smiled at her and me and Mina ran up to Sonias’ room.

I gently knocked on the door, hoping for a reply. I heard some sobbing and ruffling sounds from inside.

“Sonia?” Mina asked.

No reply.

“Sonia, are you alri-” I was interrupted by the door roughly opening and Sonia came out and ran downstairs, sobbing.

“Sonia, wait!” I yelled as me and Mina quickly ran to catch up with her.

“Sonia, where are you going?” Mina asked as she stormed out of the house and we ran after her.
