(Justin’s P.O.V)
“Hey” she smiled slightly at me as I smiled back, hesitating.
“H-Hey” I muttered, waving slightly. She motioned to the benches beside us as I nodded and we sat down. Keeping her distance from me as she tucked her hair behind her ears and looked at me. Making me go weaker and weaker.
“So, umm..” she muttered, making circles on her hand by her fingers as she spoke, “ I was thinking over whatever happened. I talked it over with my mum” she said, looking up at me. Those blue gems shining as I got lost in them, losing track of what she was saying but her voice caught me up again.
I nodded, encouraging her to go on.
“I figured that whatever happened in the past should be left behind. Like, I know you made some pretty stupid mistakes. You played around. You took everything as a joke. You broke a lot of people’s trust.” She pointed out, making me bow my head in embarrassment. She wasn’t really helping right now.
I kept my head low as I heard her chuckle after a while and then she spoke up.
“But, I also know that you repent it all. Deep down inside you still wish you could bring back the time and just- you know? Erase it all. But all those memories keep haunting you and you just can’t move on” it was like she was speaking the language of my soul because everything she said made sense. It was all crystal clear. As if she just had an interview with my soul. She was expressing what I was feeling.
“Exactly” I said, a bright smile spreading across my lips as I nodded. “That’s exactly how I feel”
She gently smiled, a sigh escaping her lips as she looked ahead of her at the grass and the playground. Kids jumping around crazily. She giggled a bit and then turned to me.
“I remember, back in Ontario, we used to act so immature. Like these kids” she said, pointing at the young souls. I smiled and nodded at the memory.
She remembered so much.
“Listen, Femke” I said, sitting straight as I got her attention. “I know you forgive me and just wanna forget about the past, but I owe you an apology. A huge apology. Actually, an apology won’t work for what pain I put you through. I swear, I’ve never forgotten that day till this time. Every day I woke up with the thought of finding you. Every day I regretted what I did. What I said. The way I acted towards you. You wanted nothing but to help me. I remember, you would call me every time you’d find something annoying was me. You’d always help me through everything. And for that, I should’ve cherished you. I should’ve cherished our time together and for those amazing things you did for me. And honestly, I never did anything for you. I always gave you pain. Nothing else” by the time I ended, I had tears in my eyes and my voice broke at the end.
She gave me a sad smile as she placed her hand above mine which was kept on my lap. Giving it a little squeeze as she nodded at me.
“I know. I know, Justin. But I never counted that. I never really got stuck to that. I knew the kind of person you were and dealt with it. Now you need to move on and forget about the past” she sighed, I started shaking my hand a bit as the tears that laid on the corner of my eyes, freely made their way down my cheeks. She was so kind hearted. One in a million.
“H-How can you forgive m-me for-”
“Forgive you?” she chuckled a bit, “I never held a grudge against you, Justin” she added. “Yeah, I did feel bad for what you did and might’ve been a little mean to you. But I never held any grudge against you” she smiled at me reassuringly.
“Femke..” I breathed out, trying my best to control the tears and sobs.
“Yeah?” she asked.
