(Justin’s P.O.V)

It was midnight by now here in Washington. The yellow autumn leaves were visible under the streetlights outside the hospital. The parking lot was nearly empty as a lot of patients were discharged that day.

That was a good sign for us since Femke got a room. Her mental situation couldn’t be ignored and she needed peace.

“It is some Patients Discharging Day today?” Chaz chuckled, shocked after seeing the amount of families escorting their family member who was admitted here, out of their rooms on their wheelchairs. Nearly all of them were in their 80’s, as far as I could judge.

“No clue,” I muttered, walking a few steps ahead to the large group of people. A lot of nurses and doctors were there, guiding them and trying to make space since the whole place was packed. Everyone was talking and wheelchairs were being dragged and doors were opened and closed, so that caused a whole lot of chaos and noise. Just to be careful, I stopped 5 feet away from them. I couldn’t help that smile on my face which occurred while watching those Grandpas’ and Grandmas’ talk, argue, whine, cheer, sleep, laugh, and investigate the whole place. They were acting like kids, and it was adorable.

“Sir, are you his family?” I heard a squeaky voice from behind me, causing me to turn around. I saw a man sitting in a wheelchair, playing with a GameCube, followed by a height-wise small, Asian looking guy standing behind him, pushing the wheelchair.

“Uh, no.” I shook my head, looking from the guy to the old man. I smiled lightly when he caught my eye, looking back to his GameCube in response while caused my smile to quickly fall off.

“Oh..” the guy looked around, thinking of something before looking back at me. “Sir, I just need you to take care of him for a minute, I’ll go find his family.”

“What? Me?”

“Please, sir. We have over fifty old aged couples here who need to be sent home today, I need to find his family.”

“Over fifty?” my mouth opened a bit in shock as my eyebrows shot up, but I couldn’t resist. I mean, I didn’t have anything else to do here. Femke was sleeping, so was Mom. Hareem and Mina were talking as Sonia, Ryan and Chaz slept. Christian and… Dad went out to grab some things to eat for us in the morning. “Uh, alright. I’ll take care of him. For how long?”

“Five to ten minutes, approximately. Thank you so much.” That man smiled before heading off towards the corridor doors. I stepped near the man as he looked up to me again, I smiled again and he looked down… again.

I sighed heavily; these five to ten minutes were going to be the longest five to ten minutes of my life. Pushing the wheelchair towards a nearby bench, I sat on it as the man faced me and refused to look up.

He played with the GameCube for three minutes before putting it in the pocket of his trouser and looking at me, crossing his arms and sitting back. The man had white hair, wrinkled skin and wore glasses. He had apple-like cheeks and looked really grumpy.
