(Femke’s P.O.V)

“Are you sure you understood? Or do you want me to recall it for you, Femke?” Ms. Jamie asked me. I slightly shook my head, reassuring her that I had every problem cleared in my mind. “Good.” she smiled as she went over to the desk. “Justin? Is there anything wrong?” she asked to the boy sitting next to me. Justin. Huh, cute name.

I turned my head to look at him arguing with his friend.

“Nope.” He replied, popping up the ‘p’. I kept looking at him as he tilted his head up and looked at me. I slightly smiled at him but he looked away. The smile from my face instantly faded as I turned ahead. That was rude.

I heard his friend chuckle. Chaz. I think that was his name. I’m sure I heard him mention this name quiet a lot of times.

I just stayed still, not reacting to his chuckle.

Then finally the bell rang. Detention over. Though, it wasn’t actually ‘detention’ for me. It was my extra class, but oh well.

“Femke, from tomorrow you should be regular. This school has strict rules against being late.” Ms. Jamie said as she gave me a little smile. I nodded as I picked up my books and left the class. As I made my way down the hall, I got so confused since I was completely unaware of where to go next. This building was so confusing.

“Hey, babe.” I heard some mumble as he came next to me from the back. It was that guy, Chaz.

“Uh, excuse me?” I politely replied as I kept walking and searching for any door to exit.

“Your name. It’s unique.” he smirked at me as I smiled back. “I like it.” he added.

“Thank you.” I said, still not looking at him.

“So, how’d you come here?” he asked.

“What do you mean?” I asked, confused by his question.

“I mean, how do you know about this school and what made you come here?” he sighed.

“Um, well my Dad’s in Air Force. So we get posted after every year, nearly. Sometimes it can be more. We just shifted from Ottawa to Toronto and my friend studies in this school so her parents are very good friends with my parents and they informed my father about this school. He thought it’d be better if my friend and I stayed together in the same school, for some reason.” I replied. Finally I saw the doors to exit as I smiled and walked faster.

“Wow, that’s pretty cool! Like your dad’s actually a fighter pilot?” he asked in an interesting manner.

Was. He already completed his fighter pilot session. He’s a senior now.” I replied as we walked down the step.

Dope!” he said in amazement, making me chuckle.

“Chaz! Why’d you leave me there? I’ve been-” his friend, Justin, came rushing towards us from the other side of the building, but stopped in his tracks as he saw me. He started moving slowly as he approached us. We were standing in the parking lot by now, looking at each other awkwardly.

“Justin, this is Femke. Femke, meet my man, Justin!” Chaz said as he wrapped an arm around Justin’s shoulder.

“Hello, nice to meet you.” I smiled at Justin.

“Yeah, hey.” He muttered, glancing at me for half a second, emotionless, before turning to Chaz. I could hear Chaz whisper something in Justin’s ear and both of them had started a little argument there, but I stopped them in the middle.
